this is really sad news for the bike industry IMO

Definitely not. A lot of brands made something somewhat competitive. As mentioned before they paved the way for quite a few decent kids bikes that are now available.
Check the bikes for little people thread for alternatives

I'll have a look. It seems to me that the companies that specialised in 'proper' kids bikes have largely gone -Isla, Wiggins, Hoy - leaving Frog still going and a couple of others that were extremely costly. But that doesn't consider that other mainstream brands might have expanded and improved their junior offerings.

Both known brands, and new brands have stepped up to compete with those companies in some way. I actually think that Isla bikes -being known as the premium brand- stopping production isn't a bad thing for quality kids bikes. A lot of the alternatives don't make massive compromises but do offer a cheaper alternative.

I know it's not really big news but bandcamp is being sold off. Hope it doesn't change too much Its a great site for music.
I binned spottify and have been using it as to get music. I really like the platform. -

bandcamp had already been sold to epic games a while back.
seems like epic are now selling it off.
epic have been making staff cutbacks in other areas as well recently. -

I had one of the really early free Spotify accounts with an advert once in a blue moon. I revisited it about 5 years ago and its position of “you will listen to what we tell you” made me can it for good. We use Bandcamp and still buy CDs

Tesla Driver gets called out for driving like a dick by cyclists 1. TD loses his shit and speeds off killing cyclist 2?

That's what I thought.

Didn't realise that. Well fingers crossed the sell off might save a few jobs and if they ain't greedy they might develop the site in keeping with its ethos.

Half of their staff have left including half the editorial staff. A big part of what made the site so good was the editorial section, highlighting unknown gems, doing features and retrospectives on artists or overviews on particular genres to help you dip in, so yeah, I fear for the worst. I expect they will start to squeeze artists cut and that will be the end of what made it good.

It’s one of the only platform s that gives the lower league and up and coming artists a fighting chance.
-
• #85296
Are there any other similar platforms that we could be looking to support artists through?

The thread for this crash is here if you want to post it there, too:

That seems to leave Frog as the last brand standing when it comes to decent kids' bikes.
