  • I don't think this was the cause of the Lineker thing though; otherwise they'd have had a better plan ready to go whenever he next had a pop at their batshit policies.

  • Totally.

Lineker/MOTD chaos - look the BBCs not fit for purpose is it, let's get rid of it.

Junior doctors striking - NHS is falling apart, let's get rid of it.

  • FWIW I think the current situation is quite comfortable for the right as it seems to confirm the fears of a lot of right leaning folks in that the BBC is packed with folks who are both hostile to conservative views

Not if it draws more attention to the fact that the Director General who suspended Lineker is a Tory Donor. Or that the Chairman organises Boris Johnson's personal finances. Or that the on/off Lead News Editor, Robbie Gibb, is a lifelong Tory who who moved directly from Tory Comms. Chief back and forth to the BBC for a decade. Or that the Today show editor 2017-20 was a friend of Johnson who campaigned for him as Mayor in the Standard for years. The list goes on etc etc.

The longer these people lecture us on impartiality the more the absurdity of it all is brought to attention.

  • Thanks for your reply.
I doubt that the EPL would accept a bid from the BBC which has 'To be confirmed later' against the 'Compere name'.
MoTD might end up with Matt le Tissier,
(who, of course would be welcomed by the Tory culture war warriors).

  • Very well done you. I’ve recently been feeling so defeated by the current order of things that I rarely bother trying to help right wrongs, but that’s inspired me to keep on.

  • They win when we give up! Never stop fighting.

  • I had a response:

Oh nice. I haven't had a response, I didn't include the Judge bit and might have been a bit looser with my language though...

  • What point, if any, are you trying to make?

    This.

  • Didn't realise Fiona 'it was just one broken nose, stop moaning luv' Bruce was actually the patron of a domestic violence charity.

    https://www.theguardian.com/media/2023/mar/13/fiona-bruce-to-step-down-as-refuge-ambassador-over-stanley-johnson-comments

    What an utter dick.

  • She was being... impartial...?

Edit: have just read the article, and I've no idea why she had to throw her tuppence in.

Stanley Johnson has a right to reply for fairness and impartiality and any statement with justification or additional context was not really needed especially from her.

  • Yeah, none of it was her fault, it was just a twitter storm blood tofu eaters.

  • 'innit?

I fucking hate Fiona Bruce, she's appallingly biased on QT

  • I didn't watch what she originally said, but assumed when I read the comment that it was a sarcastic dig Stanley Johnson to hammer the assault home to the audience.

So odd that she'd have actually said it as a genuine point.

  • Really? Literally never occurred to me

  • Why are you flexing mate?

  • domestic abuse is never a ‘one-off’

was the comment from the charity which resonated, covering her departure in the Guardian today.

  • Particularly as Charlotte Johnson Wahl (Boris' mother) said:

“I want the truth told,” she said about Stanley’s violence, which was witnessed by Boris. “He hit me many times, over many years.” Early on he resented her seeing her friends “and that’s when he first hit me”. Later, she was deposited in the country, without a car. “To adultery and violence, his family could add deserter.”

So I think reporting his friends said he'd only hit her once might have been tempered with a "Ms Wahl said.... " rather than the "fairness" of falling on the side of the father of the ex-PM

  • So, are we allowed to watch BBC again now? Only Connect's on soon...

  • It's the final too.

  • No. It's lefty woke communist propaganda and the licence fee should be abolished. Haven't you been reading the Daily Mail comments?

  • It may also be a Tory front!

  • Can't wait to see the FOI request results for the government comms with BBC

  • Probably on whatsapp on an old phone, never to be seen again.

  • I’m looking forward to reading the serialisation of

Facepalm!: the middle aged woman’s guide to navigating the morality maze, how to alienate charities and vulnerable people, whilst remaining relevant and impartial in an ever increasing politicise broadcast landscape, funded by license fee subscription

I’ve told Mrs M that Antiques Roadshow is banned / boycotted for the foreseeable future
