Unless it's a morbid curiosity thing, it's worrying why students want to see Farage.
Were the Eaton mob booing candidates for a future home secretary?

11 years for Elizabeth Holmes. At least one tech grifter is facing the consequences.

The judge referred to Holmes as a "brilliant" entrepreneur, and told her: "Failure is normal. But failure by fraud is not OK."
You're not a brilliant entrepreneur when your enterprise is one big fucking con, she'll do fuck all time in prison. They'll wrangle her house arrest whilst she's pregnant, get it extended when the baby is born and then get the sentence suspended on appeal.
Be interesting to see what Balwani's sentence will be.

Only 7,234,654 grifters to go

and SBF
apparently she showed a collage of 'good times' with her partner and kid to show how she will be sorely missed, delusional

Mind boggling she got 130+ people to claim she is a good person and deserves clemency

maybe everything is not about race but I couldnt help thinking 'imagine if she was not white'

It shouldn't be mind boggling. Humans can be good and bad people at the same time. You can also be a good person and make bad decisions.amd delude yourself. Or even be a good person right up until you do something a solutely fucking dreadful
That Holmes lady could have been a good person to thousands of people before she went down that path.
Surely it's just a tabloid fetish to be able to containerise people as either good or bad?
In terma of people wanting to appeal for clemency on her behalf despite her doing awful things...that's human nature too to an extent. Partly because nobody wants to believe they've been friends with a bad person.
That and all humans are stupid.

I don't see that as a particular problem. She isn't likely to physically harm anyone and we need more creative ways of punishing people without the costs of prison. At most her sentence should be periodic/weekend anyway.
-
• #79238
Nah. Her 130 friends are cunts too.
-
• #79239
but I couldnt help thinking 'imagine if she was not white'
Oh yes, her race is a 100% factor in it.
-
• #79240
What are you talking about? It's not about whether she'll physically harm someone it's about the harm she's already caused. Theranos blood tests caused people to get false diagnosis of all sorts of conditions and also change or stop taking medication when the tests said they were free of illness when they weren't.
Before the fraud was found out Theranos was pushing for a loosening of regulatory controls that would mean their blood tests could be rolled out for blood tests for a lot more serious conditions knowing it didn't work.
Fraud isn't just about scamming money out of rich idiots there are real world consequences for shit like this.

But we're in a world where people poorer and/or less white than her get long custodial sentences for much smaller crimes. Maybe, if more people from her background got this kind of sentence more often, they'd have more sympathy for justice system reform.

She wasn't on trial for being good or bad, she clearly intentionally committed an act she knew was illegal and despite warnings from others, she has continued to live a privileged life despite this. I can understand an appeal for clemency from a spouse or immediate family member but the majority of that 130 people need to have a word with themselves.

US prisons are full of non violent offenders. I am fully for less people getting locked in boxes, it is a huge waste of life but she doesn't deserve special treatment when others without her privileges are still getting prison sentences.

There's been a concerted media campaign from her side to make look it like she was a naive innocent under the control of Balwani the puppet master.
He's definitely a cunt as well but something tells me they'll have different trajectories from here.

Just saying I understand it. Not saying I agree with it.
Edit: it's something I'm interested in after an old friend of mine committed a murder. It was very interesting to see how different family and friends processed a previously "kind and good" person doing something borderline evil. Its a complex thing to process when somebody you like and respect turns out to be a wrongun.

borderline evil
How is murdering someone even close to borderline evil?

True, it's bad form at best.
The school is a collective, like a band or football club.
Maybe I should of gone to Harvard?
