Read earlier that he got climate change on top of business as multiple people refused it given his views on climate change

Yey, now an anti abortion rights one, as if Therese Coffey wasn't already super awful when it comes to how to treat people on benefits...

Who's now in charge of energy and climate change policy.
Nah, she's hived off climate to a specific minister, who will attend cabinet. Graham Stuart appointed to it.

Religion bruh

I'm an atheist but not all subsets of religion want abortion banned.
Have to say though that pro criminalisation atheists are very, very rare.
And of course she's fine with the cap on child benefits to two kids only, FFS!

Lizzo's Equerry Lieutenant Colonel Tom White
I used to know an army chap who got the job of equerry to Prince Philip. He insisted it was a serious job. Got a bit riled when I laughed. What's the military aspect to it? Fighting over the vol-au-vents? It's just secretary/butler with gold braid.

She won because the other guy was seen to have back stabbed Johnson (never mind that 98% of the Government resigned the same evening). Also the Government she's taken over is arguably there on his mandate so she doesn't want to rock any boats.

Do you think they care about whatever mandate they've been given? I can't imagine it even crosses their minds to think "well, we were elected on the basis of x, so I better not stray too far from that".
If anything, I suspect that the number of their majority / MPs is the only thing that they assume a mandate from.

That meme where worst person you know makes a great point.
Ex Russian PM Medvedev on Liz Truss
“she's an "incompetent and mediocre thermonuclear Russophobe" who "poses as Margaret Thatcher without having even 5% of her ability" she'll "quarrel with everyone, fail everything, and leave (office) in disgrace"

Friend or foe?

Yeah I know, as I was writing that I wondered what the fuck I was thinking. But it's the kind of argument that gets brought up to justify bullshit as it sounds constitutional.

It's more the HoL that attempts to enforce the mandate.

Jesus Christ - didn't think PMQs could get any bleaker...todays felt really dark.

Convention is that the House of Lords will pass anything that came from the general election manifesto but anything else is fair game so if she strays too far from that there may not actually be too much getting passed.

One of the many ironies of the Westminster system - the unelected chamber seems to be in charge of holding the governing party to their manifesto promises.

• #77147
Ah - didn't realise this at all. The Lords can eventually be overruled can't they in some circumstances?

Just watched some of it and my god was it self congratulatory bullshit.

Polling technique is everything. Who did they ask, did they take into account region, income, class.
Was probably a poll of Tory party members.
Who's now in charge of energy and climate change policy.
