Meanwhile, one of their new intake of MPs outed himself as trans due to being blackmailed for money over the threat of being outed against his will.
I have two thoughts on that. Firstly, imagine being closeted trans and still wanting to join the Tory Party. But also, imagine coming out as trans in the Tory Party and observing this leadership election.

My deluded prick of an MP is standing for PM, has got the backing of one MP, guessing that after 20 years as a backbencher he’s trying to leverage into a Cabinet position, the greedy, grasping cunt. His platform? Low tax, small state 🤦♂️
His CV is a great example of identikit Tory - Eton, ERG, six figures for a side hustle for a day a week working for a hedge fund based in The Caymans, invisible in the constituency, 23+k.majority, the pleasant voting record you might expect.
He was found guilty in October 2010 of misappropriating public funds and made to pay back thousands and apologise to the House. The investigation further noted he had refused to cooperate and that it was reasonable to assume he had misappropriated more than was discovered. If he had not been an MP he would have been jailed.
Difference between him and the other candidates? Name recognition

It is pretty shocking how little one has to dig to find serious wrongdoing by, it seems, most of the people’s representatives.

Labour to table a no confidence motion. Hurrah!

Looking forward to mad racist septugenarian Shires Tories being offered a shortlist for PM that may not be to their liking.

I think you are underestimating how much the character of "POC pretending they've never experienced racism" appeals to their world view, i.e. all this discrimation stuff was fixed years ago, I'm not racist so stop moaning and put the minstrels back on TV. It's on roughly the same intellectual level as "some of my best friends are black".
See also "well we've had two female leaders so how can we be sexist".

Rory Stewart is taking some flack on Twitter today for this.
Basically saying that its a good sign that there are more BAME and non Eton people in the Tory party now and that its partly thanks to David Cameron.

Kemi for PM. Just listening to her on the news.
If she delivers on 25% on what she’s saying we’re all going to be OK.

Rightfully so

A political lecturer I was talking to this morning described her as a black female Laurence Fox.

black female Laurence Fox
What a ridiculous statement. I didn't realise she had posted swastikas on social media to criticize Pride

She supports gay conversion therapy though. And is anti trans and disagrees with gay marriage.
Not saying its a like for like comparison, but she's more Laurence Fox than Rory Stewart ;)

Not to mention her conviction that there is no institutional racism in the UK.
Edit: is also on the record claiming there is no white privilege and objecting to kids being taught about it at school because "it is not established in fact"

I think she did condemn gay conversion therapy, the issue was that she was very weak in doing anything about banning it, maybe because of an ideological anti-government intervention stance than support for the practice?
Agree re Rory!

According to the BBC live text, the gender neutral toilets at Kemi’s launch had handwritten ladies and gents signs put over them this morning.
I think that definitely backs up the Lawrence fox connection.

She also wants to abandon most climate targets because its"unfair because China gets to do what it wants". And overturn the Online Safety Bill because "it legislates hurt feelings".

There had to be something. She seemed too perfect to be a conservative.
Laurence fox is a proper cunt though.

Maybe I'm trying to spot difference where there is none, but I would say that LF is operating in BNP / NF territory, whereas KB is setting out a policy platform that would have been regarded as par for the course for the Tory right in the Thatcher years. That's of course what the septuagenarian members referred to upthread voted for in their younger days in huge numbers.

Eh? She seems to be running on a full-on anti-woke, culture war mandate. It would be great to have a black, female PM, but politically she seems to be one of the worst possible choices.

Doris and mogg supporting truss. Which one has she offered chancellor?

I suppose one gets Chancellor and the other gets Foreign Secretary. I think Rees Mogg might like the idea of jetting around the world as FS doing his Lord Curzon impression?

Dream Team right there
Tories gonna tory.
Mordaunt is being called out as 'woke' for describing It Ain't Half Hot Mum as racist, homophobic etc, etc. Badenoch says the woke think being funny is a crime.
Obviously the telegraph and Badenoch just playing to the membership profile, but jeez - what a hill to die on.
