I still live in a community full of this "poverty" you speak of. People doing endless hours for less than minimum wage (typical around here is £3-£4 an hour). Tons of illegals. Lots of plain new immigrants living crammed into tiny terraces 5 to a room. But they would all be thoroughly appalled at this looting.
The rest is bullshit, but this is a fair point.

shall we agree to keep the information real. no more false jokey announcements on this thread? I'm trying to find out what is going on so i can guide a friend home to brixton safely and I'm sure as the night wears on many of us will be doing the same. I'm actually using this thread as a way of keeping abreast of the situation. Some levity would be appreciated though. Stay safe
It was a moment of humour which, I thought, most people would be able to follow (seeing as it was announced as such). But fair play. This is a good resource if you don't have it open yet: http://thewestlondoner.wordpress.com/

Agreed. Dont add to the rumour mill. I've been guilty of it earlier. It isnt helpful.
If you are in an area at the moment where there isnt something going on (but has been rumoured otherwise), do post up about it.

"What is the true state of Britain? Basking in rude health?"
"Or sick, to the guts - it's moral-mometer now reading less than two morals, per head"

Can we also agree that from now on the word "apparently" must not be used to precede a statement you cut and pasted off twitter?*
*I may have been guilty of this earlier upthread

The naivete is surely indicative of something? If you have a part of the population making comments like that your response shouldn't be "fucking dumb cunts!"
They are though, aren't they!? My empathy starts to wane when these people start throwing bricks and petrol bombs. Surely we need this to stop asap? Or shall we sit in our houses and speculate about the underlying problems? You're right, Horatio, obviously - something is obviously awry - but shall we assess that after the fires have gone out and before more people get hurt?

I accept this analysis if you feel it is so.
Remember I am talking about all the people looting, mugging, destroying peoples homes and public services like buses. Ill stick to my guns here. None of them are making a political comment.
I'm with you. Speak much sense

He seems to have them on his side this time. Amazing how much difference a broom makes.

it's also obvious that on this thread we all have different political opinions regarding this and many other things. I've enjoyed reading them and participating. Let's refrain from calling each other cunts etc because it also seems we are in agreement that this is wrong and we are in effect a community willing to offer each other places to stay in safety if this all goes pear shaped.

So, is it Graham Norton's fault or not?
Joe Cornish's fault apparently.
