It would be hilarious (none of this is hilarious) justice if the victim, went back and killed the driver and then used her disabilities caused by that driver, to get off on any charges.

Sure. You've convinced me that they are worthy world cup hosts and won the bid on merit based on the fervour of their fans...
I don't think they are worthy world cup hosts in any way which means I was not trying to convince you of that. Was just pointing out that the middle east is big on football as well as human rights abuses and modern (and not so modern) slavery.

I hope you never have to go on Mastermind. Would be very hard to narrow down what to choose as your specialist subject.

Almost more galling than the Saudi aspect is that Trump will make a truck load of cash out of it.
Anything that enriches that creature by a red cent should be boycotted.

Yeh, sunlit uplands
The uncomfortable truth is that until Britain has a prime minister and government willing and able to advance an alternative economic strategy that addresses the supply shock and solves the Northern Irish border problem, the cloud of uncertainty hanging over the British economy is likely to persist and the pound is likely to continue its drift towards emerging market status. It may be a long wait.

I’m consistently astounded by how easily people get away with killing another person in the UK.

Sorry, I don't post much on here but the story made me so angry. It is easy to get away with killing people in the UK if you kill them whilst driving a motor vehicle.

I’m listening to the latest freakonomics podcast about exactly this right now. Definitely worth a listen!

The thing that I still haven’t got an answer for is why these architecture firms, engineering, construction and consulting firms, all very likely listed in London, NY, Frankfurt etc are all being let off the hook.
Likewise for other countries, it’s not like Malaysia, India, Singapore, Thailand don’t have similar issues. I guess because it’s so blatant in places like Qatar/UAE/KSA etc they’ve put a target on their own backs and with the sports washing it’s being amplified.

I reckon they're just allowed to make their own decisions and money trumps morals. I know of one oil & gas company who has voluntarily withdrawn from using services in the UAE due to human rights concerns. The thing is, they did so silently for fear of causing future political complications for themselves so even then it was only really a limited gesture and a missed opportunity to make a statement.
I think it helps that the UK is "close friends" with some of these nations too.
Edit: Even if there were formal sanctions against these nations companies would still dodge them. We saw it with Apartheid and we saw it with Russia (France / Thales dodging the sanctions in 2015). If there's money to be made, cunts will make it. I'm also not sure the public care.

Also. Weird pronunciation of 'Qatar' as 'Cutter.'

Without hearing what the person sounded like, Cutter is more correct, but the 't' is an arabic soft 't'.

And the c is an arabic qaaf which is more like a k.

Like I get it's a hard one, all the letters in Qatar don't have a literal translation so it's basically impossible to say accurately unless you can speak Arabic.

I am enlightened now. Thank you. I clearly have been butchering that for a long time.
For her to be unfit for trial I would guess she's got some form of mental impairment which is deemed to make her unable to instruct her solicitor or understand the process of her trial.
I've no idea though.
If that is the case then it seems odd that she's deemed OK to drive a car, but not able to stand trial for causing severe harm by dangerous driving of that car.
