I can see that many dyed in the wool Tory idiots and those further to the right will still vote for a party led by him. But surely everyone else has had enough?
Also I can't believe that more hasn't surfaced about the rampant kleptocracy that took off during lockdown and enabled by the VIP procurement lanes. Maybe once the press feels they have had all the milage they can get out of partygate they'll start digging their teeth into that.

He's profiting from the already high levels of cynicism about politics; people who think "They're all liars" aren't so outraged about him being one. Perversely, his contribution to increased cynicism may even help him.

I hope not.
The "Sir Beer Korma" comment had me screaming at the radio today.

• #73180
Wow.
I can only apologise. :D
But you see it might be slightly more effective than pointing out the obvious lying.

It's situations like this that I really wished spontaneous human combustion was a real thing.

My wee brother - the only Tory in our family and a total Boris fan - will have loved that. Like a large number of people, he's incapable of intellectual debate and resorts to bluster, cheap rhetorical tricks, blatant lies and (when all that runs out) shouting, so he admires Boris's stunts. A lot of people just can't do logic and think all this shit is fine and justified because they're right (only they can't articulate it).

Can't Australia invite him to be the first competitor at the Harold Holt swimming challenge?

That comment was …
Tone deaf. Witless. Thick.
I could get to like this 3 word slogan lark

Erm....

I’m having ‘tone deaf’ as one word, my game, my rules.

Not much push back on Johnson saying he thought the leaving parties were an important part of leadership.
I'm sure the people who couldn't attend a funeral of a family member thought that was important too.
No follow up to his apology to security and cleaning staff. How many of them got Covid working around these parties? How many were hospitalised?

my game, my rules
And by the standards at play here, you’re free to break them at will anyway.

Fuck, I’m included in “they’re all the same” before I’m even out of beta testing?

Live, lie, laugh

You have the outraged sense of victimisation right, but admitting there might ever be a time when you could be held responsible is a fail. That never happens in Bojo's universe.
-
• #73192
Incredibly effective distraction, must say. All the corruption, incompetence and thinly veiled bribery/embezzlement will just fade into the ether while society is transfixed by partygate and Johnson’s circus.
No wonder he hasn’t been removed.

Whilst a political party can’t do this; replace the picture of the random grieving lady with one of HM the Queen on her own in Westminster Cathedral, and that’s a powerful message to the Tory faithful.

Is BBC News trolling with a section on the ABBA virtual tour?

The little orange man on Streetview has been wearing a clown's hat and toting a couple of balloons for the past two days.
Is this anything to do with Partygate? -

But what if my outraged sense of victimisation is faux?

So I had a response from my MP although obviously standard as he completely failed ton engage, again, with the point about Johnson being a lying shit.
He's clearly not going to become a vertebrate anytime soon but here's what he said:
"Dear Big Ted
Thank you for taking the trouble to email me.
I have been waiting to read Sue Grey’s report and yesterday when it was released, what I saw was a well written and forensic report with some appalling examples of bad behaviour.
What it did not contain was more or even new evidence of wrongdoing by the Prime Minister.
While the report did detail some serious instances of shocking behaviour, these actions were committed by staff or civil servants when the Prime Minister was not present.
While those actions were of course completely unacceptable, there were no separate or new allegations against the Prime Minister himself which would change my view of the situation.
I therefore have no reason to change my previous decision to accept the apology given by the Prime Minister, and I will continue to support the Government.
Thank you again for writing to me."
I thought completely exonerating the Prime Minister while throwing civil servants under the bus was a classy touch.

Bit unfair. I'm sure BJ said that he took full responsibility for what went on....
.... right before he proceeded to offload all responsibility on to juniors.
Anyway, what's the deal with the obsession with trying to hold these guys to account? Do you not understand that they were born to rule? If anything it's frankly ridiculous that people expect them to abide by the same rules as the rest of the population when they are so much more important.
Don't you know there's a war on?

I’m very clearly screaming into the void , powered by nothing more than self- righteous indignation and incredulity.
But then when has a futile and self-defeating quest deterred me engaging?
Be a real shame if they lose another byelection
