  • While were at it
    Climate change thread>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Future cars will drive themselves to the nearest central hub for recharging and devomming.

So empty cars driving about creating more congestion. Great.

  • Obviously at the most efficient times, when nearest the closest devomming centre, also think of all the jobs created as car devommers.

  • I would like to join in the stereotyping of SUV owners by offering my upstairs neighbour as a full on ticks all the boxes example . She is over weight as is her father who has an even bulkier 'Discovery' monster . She has a Range/Land rover thing parked in her allocated parking space which just happens to be 2 yards from from the door to my flat.
Its amusing how my visitors ( contractors/maintenance people etc ) assume its my car and how the nature and tone of a conversation changes once they discover its not.
It is tempting to string out the pretence though.
She also has a reputation with other neighbours for an aloof refusal to interact in any way with them.

  • Doesn't anyone have faith in hovercars

  • Obviously at the most efficient times, when nearest the closest devomming centre,

Unless there is a fee for using the roads it will be immediately so the car is available at the one the car owner has the best deal with.

also think of all the jobs created as car devommers.

Or you could have a paid worker in the car monitoring the hirer. Self driving pool cars are minicabs with fewer staff or there is no point.

  • I thought SUVs came about as an unintended consequence of increasing taxes on cars.

Cars too expensive? Let's have cartrucks instead.

  • To an extent - the initial wave of these cars were on commercial chassis, ladder frames with a sheet metal box on top. That’s significantly cheaper than a good monocoque chassis. But! The commercials based SUV was also huge - so you could charge a lot. Cheap underneath, looked imposing- and lots of margin for the dealer.

  • It's like the opposite of a kei car

  • It's been the fastest growing segment of the car market for years, people obviously love them and manufacturers can't churn them out fast enough to keep up with demand... So who's at fault? Is anyone really surprised?

Much of the talk on here just sounds like pissy whining... Sorry if I've missed something...

  • Proud pissy whiner and have no shame in it. Im just jealous I can't even afford my fav Honda Civic and love to vent 😅

  • every thread is a car thread now

  • Much of the talk on here just sounds like pissy whining... Sorry if I've missed something...

    That's the forum's oeuvre, no?

  • like pissy whining

nah, I get close passed by an SUV driver when I cycle with my child on daily basis so much so that I have to re-think the whole 'cycling' for pleasure or for commuting as a thing

    so fuck them all

  • So basically let the free market decide?

  • Sadly "people [who drive one] obviously love them" doesn't negate the problems they cause the rest of us, so if I'm going to pissy whine about anything SUVs seem a pretty good option.

Using an SUV as an urban family car is the driving equivalent of walking around town wearing clown shoes and the sooner people realise that the better.

  • What are you doing about it? The market seems to have already decided...

  • What are you doing about it?

    slash tyres

  • But, generally speaking, humans are selfish pricks, they will always put the safety of themselves and their family above yours... Is that such a big surprise? When I lived in my little council flat in Chelsea it was only the wealthy who could afford to ferry their kids to Hill House in a fully kitted out Range Rover... Anyone can afford an SUV now so of course Mr and Mrs Jones of Swindon are gonna get one to take their precious little shits to day care in...

  • 😅

  • Do you leave a note? I hate u, SUV guy!! Ur killing my kids, fuck off!!

  • walking around town wearing clown shoes

It's called fashion. Look it up.

  • i should!

srsly tho, change doesent come from individuals, they love to be warm and have their pumpkin spice latte in a nice cup holder

i get it, but I dont want to be the enabler OR give up hope

i have joined the local LCC group and write to local politicians but I cant go full XR, I will get deported

  • Of course humans are selfish pricks. That's why I'm taking the line of making SUV drivers a figure of fun rather than appealing to their better nature.

SUVs are the Ratners necklace of cars.

  • How about “Gravel” bikes in the city?
