See they have heard about the microdots in suntan lotion and stopped using it. My Grandfather didn’t use suntan lotion in the Western Desert fighting the Nazis, its a modern hoax to control us.

(for the sake of accuracy my Grandfather was mostly back in Cairo and did get skin cancer)

I actually think sunscreen is a tiny bit of a hoax...
in that it's actually cooler to cover up when it's super sunny but there's a prevalent culture/image that the only way to enjoy the sun is to show as much skin as possible and it's ok because of sunscreen. Sunscreen doesn't stop you getting heatstroke. Of course it's great at protecting the bits that need to be exposed, but people seem to use it instead of clothes. And it's full of fairly unpleasant chemicals.

(I'm mildly allergic to it myself so I cover up, but despite a decent collection of hats I do worry about skin cancer from getting too much sun on my face, back of hands etc )
