Rory Stewart
Wasn’t he going to stand as an independent at one stage
He was but he ran out of funds. He was also the first conservative voice to speak out against the Govt mismanagement of the pandemic response

Drunk captain
Possibly, but the pandemic has meant that some of these guys haven't put their foot on land for close to a year and counting. You'd be hitting the bottle too.
" A great number of seafarers have not had the opportunity to disembark their vessel upon expiry of their contract, and have instead had to continue working, often for many months. ... it increases the risk of fatigue, which is a primary source of accidents at sea of which about 80% is attributed to human error. "
My understanding is that a typical contract is 12 months. So we're talking about people working several months in addition to the 12 months. In general they have had no chance touch land and blow off some steam since the pandemic started a year ago.

If they flushed all the toilets on the ship surely the water level would rise?

Fun fact, this means that most mariners under these arrangements don't have to pay tax.

Yes, I've been chuckling about it all day and spent lunchtime reading about the canal. Fun fact, this ship is bigger than the Suezmax category... which is named for obvious reasons...

Gonna be very expensive.
I hope everyone with things on that ship has general average insurance...
I think the recovery ships could also declare it salvage and claim a % of the ship's value?

These guys should just sling a line on it, tow it out. LAZY.
