Not sure of the ethics of blocking youtube ads seeing as its the content creators that get hit most so will probably just suck up the adverts for now.
I do make a point to ensure ads are shown for content creators (either that or support in other ways like Patreon, which I'm sure is a damn sight better for them than the ad revenue)

I think uBlock works by actual humans adding ad timestamps and content.
So in that sense it's not that easy...people are just annoyed enough to outsmart the uTube algoritms.

I'm familiar with how uBlock works...just suprised that Youtube choose to run their ads in a way that makes it easy to reduce their advertising revenue. Seems bonkers.

Ah. Its a change they made in order to expand the Youtube Premium program without having to provide different feeds for the different subscription levels. Can see how it makes financial sense now, on the assumption that most people don't use a browser ad blocker.

I have uBlock and recently on some videos I get a black screen with a 'skip ad' button for a few seconds.

What can you use to block ads on mobile app?

They make an exception when they know someone is really susceptible to advertising for ski pads.

Totally agree. A small amount of my family live in Ireland. Not that I’m in anyway Irish or think of myself as Irish.
I just think it’s not ours and the fact we keep it causes a lot of problems for a lot of people

I'm a big fan of nextdns but that doesn't block youtube video ads.

Adblock Plus in Chrome or Firefox still blocks all the Youtube ads.
Or are you crazy kids talking about mobile extensions? Youtube app on iOS has become INSANELY annoying with the quantity of advertising.
-

I use Yandex browser which unlike the mobile Chrome browser allows you to install extensions
from the Chrome Web store. Not all will work but I have Adblocker Ultimate and Ghostery installed. -

Grooming gangs not predominantly Asian, Home Office report finds. Which is probably news to no one other than the far right and their enablers.

They would say that though. All part of the cover up.

Youtube Vanced (and YT Music Vanced) is another great option. Client looks / feels identical to YT.
You need the micro-g store to install it.

I am in the middle of a massive argument about this with friends in Glasgow. A guy has been going round Govan Hill filming the Roma community and accusing them of lots of stuff and putting it on facebook.
I say its discriminatory and racist against the roma community, they all say it's all fact and that the Romas in Govan sell their children into the sex industry. The underlying racism and hatred has shocked me.

Let me guess, Facebook guy does not contact the police with his suspicions and proof?

I'll never look at John Major in the same way again
Or just install a browser that blocks ads by default, like Brave.
