Maguire's brief:
says the testimonies pertaining to the bribery charge are very vague. “they didn’t specify what he wanted to pay.” He continues “they would never say ‘fuck Greece,’ they love the country, and are keen on the ancient Greek culture.”

A gospel-singing Brazilian lawmaker accused of masterminding the assassination of the husband who was once her adopted son is facing calls for her expulsion from congress so she can face murder charges.
But on Monday, investigators alleged she had plotted to kill the 42-year-old preacher, with the help of at least seven of the couple’s 55 mostly adopted children.

The eco-yogi slumlords of Brooklyn. Covid health-quackery, illegal evictions, lashings of white privilege, much asshattery.

Jeremy Clarkson reckons Maguire's innocent because:
Many years ago, on another Greek island, I was enjoying a night out when my girlfriend was touched up by a disgusting-looking Greek yobbo in a bar.
After I spoke to him about this, quite forcefully, he and his friends took me outside where they punched me a few times, tied me into an interesting reef knot and then, when I was lying helpless in the street, urinated all over me.

The guardian app now tries to force me to sign up and register before I can see anything. F that I’ve deleted the app, they’re getting worse and worse anyway

they need to start charging for content and reign in their click bait tendencies.

The problem is if all the higher-quality journalism is behind a paywall everyone just reads the Mail or shit on Facebook.

The Guardian has become garbage over the last couple of years. It plays all the shit games -just from the left side of the fence.
Or my tolerance of left wing liberal hand wringing has seriously decreased.
Probably both tbf.

I subscribed to the Guardian, but should probably subscribe to the Times and FT as well for balance.
I should also subscribe to the local paper if you think about it, as those are really at risk.
Not sure I can take more news, Marina Hyde/John Crace are now "laugh, then nearly cry about how bad it is" :)

It's not all quality, but I appreciate the better stuff and their exposure of the Windrush generation.
Any left paper that is, erm, left? Aside from The Morningstar :p
-
• #61938
the guardian is liberal(ish), hardly left wing.
-
• #61940
Agreed, it's a mild social democratic left, not the anti capitalist left.
But there does not seem to be anything proper left to read in the UK, bar magazines and the morning star.
Unless I miss something?

People do have the oddest beliefs ...

WTF is Johnson, B just trolling us by now? Or trying to get fired?
-
• #61948
I think combination of trolling and it gives the press something to talk about for the next week that isn't Boris's failings. Also Boris can u-turn if he wants and fire Tony and say he has taken on board the electorates feedback and lesson's will be learnt and he is not scared to admit when he has made a mistake etc. etc. All feels a bit groundhog day. I bet Tony never goes near a trade negotiation but no doubt will get a chunck of cash regardless.

OK, maybe not cash then but I am sure it will sufficienctly lucrative in one way or another
Just looked it up. The court ruled that the ban starts after his release and he will have to pass the extended driving test for people returning to driving after a serious offence.
