Interesting piece on the KFC crisis
https://www.wired.co.uk/article/kfc-chicken-crisis-shortage-supply-chain-logistics-experts
Includes this point: "It's safe to say that public confidence in KFC is shaken. Between phone calls to Tower Hamlets Police complaining about the limited menu, and a movement in Bristol to nationalise the chain to prevent future trouble, regaining the people's trust will be a formidable task for Colonel Sanders."

Truly astonishing...
As the Twitter post said:
An American child hero. Whose family must crowdfund the medical bills for the bullets he took, while saving his classmates. Almost impossible for us in the UK to comprehend. Inhumane doesn’t come close. -

Thank you for this, I will avoid all these brands like the plague now.
Unfortunately, Cordura is made by the Kochs' (and has an atrocious environmental record) and that is somewhat harder to boycott...

if these are the kind of reactions to a lack of chicken, heavens to betsy knows what they're reaction would be like to starving homeless children in the third world
i'm sure if we could channel this anger it could become a force for good and could change the world

I'm supportive of mps being paid more and not allowed to have a second job. I have no doubt that some talented people who would make great mps are put off as they would have to take a huge paycut. Keeping these people out allows the rich an easier in where they can treat it as a hobby (goldsmith), a vanity project (DC, GO, BJ) or a way to influence policy for the advantage of your business /chums (JRM et).

+1
MP should be a dream job, something that absolutely everyone would consider doing.
Not something you do for fun whilst living off your trust fund. -

Spot on and put much better than I would have done

Whilst I agree with this in principal, it a) seems pretty self-serving when many (most? all?) other public service workers have seen real-wage pay cuts in recent years, and b) do we really think an increase of £3000 enough to convince people that would be taking a huge pay cut to do the job?
Yeah, there is a key technicality. It appears that they were notRussian forces...they were Russian mercenaries. Sure, they were probably being paid by the Russian Government but I think this would be very different if it was Russian military who had been killed by US military.
