You misunderstand me; I was attempting to explain his appeal.
We are in violent agreement.

Johnson messes his hair up backstage before tv appearances. Need I say more?

The US isn't alone in having politicians who are currently admitting things they probably shouldn't in tweets: https://twitter.com/NadineDorries/status/937019367572803590?s=17

I hope I haven't downloaded a black boy's phone by accident. You know, because of all the porn on it. Or something.

Is it just vanity or what that makes these fools imagine they can influence a Tory government?

What the fuck is Nadine on about?
-
• #50261
I’m not in government but I’m working for people I don’t necessarily respect because I think I can maybe make life better for the people I manage (and I think the company has a future, if we can get past the fossils up top). Should I fall dramatically on my sword instead?

^^I'm not sure what your point is: if you are working to temper a Tory government then, yes, you should quit because you cannot succeed. How Milburn could ever have thought that Cameron or May were serious about social justice I have no idea. Like all those 'Tsar's who have come and gone from government having achieved nothing.
What are we going to do about this problem? Nothing. How are we going to do it? By setting up a commission. -

As always the real news is often on the sidebar of larger stories (saw while reading a story about runners from the running thread)

a total of 15,752 drivers received six penalty points for using a mobile phone between March and August.
Jesus christ, what's scary is that must be a tiny percentage of actual numbers of people using their phone whilst driving.

A summary of 'kids' today
Just talked to a load of 17 yos about media/politics. The future is: None of them ever bought a paper, only half on Facebook which is "for parents", Twitter is "boring", all love Snapchat (especially the Economist's page!), largely care about tuition fees & Tories hating animals.
-
• #50273
They sound right on.
-
• #50274
I find it interesting that they all like Snapchat. Lots of people complain that there'll be no politicians left in 15 years because we'll all have dodgy Facebook posts somewhere on the internet. But if no young people are on there, it might just skip straight over our (my) generation from 50+ people who weren't raised with the internet to 25-year-olds who were raised after we realised privacy was kind of important

the emp blast from trumps nuclear war will erase all our embarassing posts shortly before we're all incinerated. we're fine.
Not so sure.
Imo it's his character and "authenticity". People like him. He "tells it like it is". Handily he also has a pretty wide range of opinions so at some point he's quite likely to have expressed a view people can agree with.
But mainly it's that he's charismatic and people like him.
