I don't imagine she's in a rush...

Johnson and Davies must be loving this, their lies aren’t getting any scrutiny whilst the media wets itself in a frenzy over Patel.

She's online. Her WhatsApp is connected.

It's astonishing isn't it. How does Johnson (in particular) get away with so much?

your license fee at work.
Reminds me of the whale in the Thames many years ago.
Private Eye number crunching put it in to perspective:-
£50,000 : amount raised by the public in order to help try and look after the whale
£50,000 : amount the BBC spent on helicopters for aerial footage of the whale -

I really think it strengthens people's grasp of geography and identity.
To what extent do you think that Germany's comparatively recent unification is the cause of this?
We often still distinguish between the more recent additions from the 1500s to 1800s.
In Germany's case, established states/kingdoms have given away their autonomy over time to a centralised government in a combination of ways. It makes sense that as they've done this they've ensured they retain relatively more power than our kingdoms from the C.10th taken by militarily force.

BBC are giving us the news we deserve.

True. You end up with a chicken and egg situation though in that these places have low populations, in part, because they have such poor public transport.
From a pub/armchair perspective with zero knowledge on the topic... this is why investment in Internet connectivity and renewable energy unreliant on traditional infrastructure is so important.
My hunch is that the cost of better Internet would be lower and deliver a greater ROI than better public transport.
Isn't this why Frome is the new Shorditch?

Doesn't work as well for getting home from the pub late at night though.
From a purely business perspective that might be true but not so much for it being a place you want to actually live in, you end up with Milton Keynes otherwise.

And if the BBC weren't making a big deal out of the probable sacking of a Cabinet minister and prospective future Tory leader for pretty much treason, how y'all would be howling then...

It's all getting a bit OJ for Priti.

I wonder if they would have raised the same amount had there been no footage of the whale.

My plan was to sell the whale meat to Japanese tourists once the inevitable happened and it died.
I reckon I’d have made at least £50k.

Patel has quit.
-
• #49893
Not followed the thread closely but was that inevitable when the alternative was being loaded onto a barge and towed out to Sheppey?
-
• #49894
Well, she quit in the sense that you choose to sit in a bucket of cold water when your arse is on fire.
-
• #49895
Still makes the Maybot look weak. She can't even manage to sack a minister that's lied to her.
-
• #49896
She doesn’t look weak, she is weak.

• #49897
There have been several!

• #49898
Well, yes, shows up how weak she is then. ;)

• #49899
And we still don't know about all of them...

Does her resignation mean that she misses out on the honorary title 'Disgraced Former Minister...'?
I understand why Fallon would be allowed to resign (i.e. before any actual revelations came out) but I don't understand how you could get around firing Patel in this case.
There's always a massive queue at Costa in Terminal 1 Arrivals, so that's an extra 20 minutes. Unless she gets to cut right to the front, which she probably does.
