  • Well that's it, there are some women who are forced to wear one or they can't leave the house, sometimes its religion but then men will also cover up, some of it is sexism (guys in western clothing while their missus is covered up fully) and some of it is I can't be bothered with showing flesh/I burn superfast but how do you make that distinction?

You can't. In Germany there talk of a partial ban but only on the full face veil in public, not a "no covering up if you look Muslim" ban.

  • This is a serious controversy that will preoccupy us for some time.

It leans first and then dives.

  • I hope it doesn't use Helium that's getting rare.

Well Hydrogen is pretty abundant and lighter than air.

    Oh. Hang on...

  • Are burkinis allowed in a sauna ?

  • I just can't work out why the hell a woman shouldn't be allowed to wear a burkini for swimming if she so chooses.

    C'est pas chic.

  • Not some Dutch ones...you have to be fully naked.

    Perverts... :)

  • Very hot air balloon? ;)

  • Dutch Perverts

Netherlands will forever be in my heart for its being a fine pre internet source of pornography.

  • I'm with Arundhati Roy : “When, as happened recently in France, an attempt is made to coerce women out of the burqa rather than creating a situation in which a woman can choose what she wishes to do, it’s not about liberating her, but about unclothing her. It becomes an act of humiliation and cultural imperialism. It’s not about the burqa. It’s about the coercion. Coercing a woman out of a burqa is as bad as coercing her into one. Viewing gender in this way, shorn of social, political and economic context, makes it an issue of identity, a battle of props and costumes. It is what allowed the US government to use western feminist groups as moral cover when it invaded Afghanistan in 2001. Afghan women were (and are) in terrible trouble under the Taliban. But dropping daisy-cutters on them was not going to solve their problems.”

  • Me too, after reading that.

  • Sarkozy has dropped in his two-centimes worth, and it's pretty ugly dog whistle stuff. To call it a 'provocation' linked to radicalism is to excuse (encourage?) any attacks on women.

  • just what the fuck is farage's agenda?

appearing at a trump rally is deeply unimpressing

  • We are all fucking doomed!!!

  • if there's one thing farage won't tolerate it's bloody foreigners going to other countries to tell them how to run things.

  • Before the rally, a quick survey of the crowd at random showed that
eight in 10 people had never heard of Farage or Brexit. One woman said
she had learned of him in the lead-up to the rally, and the other
said, “He’s from the Brits. That’s all I know.”

  • Farage's agenda? Pretty simple. Try and remain in the public eye in order to make money from it. Trump's brand of nationalism isn't dissimilar from Farage's and he knows that he could stand to benefit if he acts the faithful lapdog even though Trump's campaign looks pretty doomed right now. If anything, he's probably banking on it, quite literally.

One thing Farage is acutely aware of is that now Brexit has been voted for, UKIP is a bit of a redundant party right now. If it wants to remain relevant in British politics, it needs to go through a significant reinvention that seems unlikely to succeed if he remains a part of it.

  • Isn't this exactly the kind of comment that allows people to justify the existence of the burkini?

  • I once went into a sauna with a towel around my waist, and someone looked up and snapped "I hope you're wearing trunks under that".

I said "yes, but I'm not wearing anything under my trunks..." which was a lie anyway.

  • your cock was double bagged under your trunks?

  • I went in a sauna in Germany in trunks and was told I must take them off if I wanted to stay. This was made more awkward by the bloke having to repeat the request three times before I understood it, ending in him bluntly saying 'take. your. shorts. off.'.

  • Presuming it's not a mixed sauna I don't understand why anyone would want to wear anything in a sauna. But then I just got back from Finland where clothes in the sauna are approved of even less than Germany and even towels are generally a no no.

  • I went to the doctor without any trousers or underwear on

he said: "I can clearly see your nuts"
