This is my worry, by removing our own ability to manufacture the price goes up.

Yep, good read.
One note "Europe’s refusal to allow state aid to industry, making it the only major economic bloc that has no effective industrial strategy"
France has never given a flying fuck about this and has saved their own industries several times. If the UK want they can ignore it.
The EU as a trade block is indeed very neolib atm :/>
The sad thing is, it's chiefly been the UK lobbying to stop having controls imposed on China.
What we know is that the British government has for the last three years been blocking efforts by the EU to equip itself with the sort of anti-dumping weaponry used by Washington to confront China.
The EU trade directorate has been rendered toothless by a British veto. So much for the canard that the UK has no influence in Brussels.
"The British are sacrificing an entire European industry to say thank you to China for signing up to the nuclear power project at Hinkley Point, and pretending it is about free trade," said one official in Brussels bitterly.
What they are blocking is a change to an EU regulation intended to beef up Europe's 'trade defence instruments' (TDI), enabling it to respond much more quickly to Chinese dumping and too impose much tougher penalties.
The British have cobbled together a blocking minority in the council, much to the annoyance of the French, Italians, Spanish, and Germans. -

Do these fuckers not realise / care that the loss of the production capability, will lead to the loss of the in-depth knowledge of how to make things work. Without this in-depth knowledge our engineers will become less able to design and manufacture goods that are of very high quality.
This will eventually lead to the UK engineering as a service industry disappearing to low cost regions.
Or will the free market forces result in the replacement of these highly skilled / paid jobs with something equivalent / better??

Don't worry - soon computers will do all our jobs and we will have infinite leisure time and no problems (see Keynes).

The government genuinely don't give a shit - we in the UK make Hedge Funds and sell money, "Call me Dave" and Osbourne will only stir to action if the City of London is in danger, hard-working families who don't work in finance can get fucked.

Oh, charming :(
Tx I didn't know that. It's frustrating so many people may not have a job soon.
But most of the current lot has never been among working people, went to a normal school, had a student loan, did a shite job when studying ... normal stuff. (yes I'm off to sing the Internationale l8s ;)

^Health Goth is an aesthetic revolving around biotechnology,
monochrome sportswear, fetish culture, extreme cleanliness, and
rendered environments.[1][2] Health goth has roots in "street goth"
but focuses on trans-humanism, Net art, technical sportswear, bionic
body parts, combat gear and an understanding of whole body and mental
health.[3] The creators have stated the following keywords they use
when sourcing imagery: "mesh, moisture-wicking fabrics, BioWare, body
enhancement tech, prosthetics, shoe dipping, various fashion and
performance wear brands, transparent clothing, chains and light weaponry, tactical gear, elemental aesthetics, corporeal
mortification, and rendered environments."[4]Does this overlap with the dayZ crew from these shires?
Just reading up on NUT stuff today. If the Tories try to force through the trade union bill (after defeats by the lords last week), teachers vote to strike, and Hunt continues with his plans with junior doctors, we could be in for interesting times. I'm not sure a general strike is inconceivable.
...maybe just maybe the people of this country may remember who is in charge

Someone has to man those call centres... They don't give a fuck because those workers were never crossing the blue box in elections. What is the cost in terms of social despair, social welfare and all the other shit associated with just letting it go?
