I wonder why Cameron is not asking ITV, who also use IS, to stop it? And, was the IRA really an army? I don't remember anyone suggesting broadcasters shouldn't use that name.

We did over-dub all the Sinn Fein politicians in order to make them sound a bit silly.

It is not so much to make them sound a bit silly, but that other Islamic countries (i.e The Islamic Republic of Iran) feel that to refer to them as IS gives them a form of legitimacy. They are not a State, and they don't represent the majority of Islamic opinion.
Most of the Arabic speaking world uses Daesh, but apparently the tabloids think we are too thick to understand forrin.

If Daesh is used that might piss them off.

I like "so-called Islamic State" because it makes every report sound like an angry letter to the Evening Standard.
