  • I never said it was.

no, but you did pretty much say that the reason the people are dead is because they were used as shields, not because someone fired a missile at them.

  • Or adding in some facts (that Hamas site their rocket launchers next to schools, nurseries, hospitals etc) which are well reported in the news?

From a news source normally considered unbiassed please.

  • @hoefla

i think you make a valid point, and yes i can see how current events will stir up these base emotions in the sort of knuckle draggers that get off on hating people based upon what invisible friend they have. It's also worth noting that the same sentiments exist within the jewish community but directed at the Arab population - it's an inherent feature of zionism.

neither are right and they can both get to fuck.

  • pea

  • Anyone who thinks firing on women and children is an overnight decision based on recent events is a fool. Chalk it up for faith/country/politics/whatever but it's years of hate with a "them and us" situation coming from it.

  • are you really saying that everyone is so clear about the distinction that anti-semitism is not really increasing, is not dangerous, is not present and ugly and affecting people right here in this country and elsewhere? really?

i don't think anyone here is saying that.

no, i'm suggesting that the conflation of the two is erroneous. actual anti-semitism is something that has sadly never left us.

    exactly.

it seems the whole 'that's anti-semitism!" argument as an end-of-discussion, whenever there is criticism of anything Israeli seems to be wearing a bit thin to the rest of the world in light of this conflict.

  • Two wrongs don't make a right.

Both sides to be sent to their rooms without toys until they say sorry and hug.

To be enforced by the Swiss, that'll work.

  • The psychology of the weapons used in their attacks on Palestine is horrific: last year it was phosphorescent missiles filled with chemicals designed to spread and ignite on impact before sticking to the skin of humans and gives them appalling burns, this year it's munitions filled with tiny 'flechettes' or steel arrows that explode in the air are again, designed to indiscriminately injure anyone in proximity. It's gratuitous and makes it hard to sympathise with anyone that thinks it's ok or acceptable to embrace such technology let alone deploy it when they know civilians will undoubtedly be hit.

Like the shooting of children, it's designed to terrorise and put political pressure on Hamas, and as much as Israelis have a right to live without getting missiles fired at them, they refuse to acknowledge any actions of their own that provoke them such as disrespecting treaty boundaries, bulldozing villages or or basically putting the Palestinians in a walled ghetto.

It's just a weird historical feedback loop where the Holocaust survival mentality is creating a situation where they are justifying the same dehumanisation and persecution of people that as time goes on, are becoming more impossible to live next to instead of the desired alternative, and yes, for the other side justifies the anti-semitism that is still prevalent and equally reprehensible.

  • plus ca fucking change.

  • @BRM it was a non-response to what I saw as a non-response, sort of explained already, probably didn't really work anyway.
I don't agree with "that's anti-semitism" as an argument that has anything to do with Israel's actions, I was arguing that "anti-semitism exists and this is making it worse" is true and does not automatically make you some kind of apologist.

@greenhell - most jewish media in this country makes the comments sections of the daily mail look positively welcoming with respect to "multiculturalism". I can't stand to read it.

  • Anti-Semitism does exist.
Anti-Islamic feelings are far stronger, more commonplace and more accepted.
    Neither are acceptable.

I would write more, but Tour de France calls.

  • Shoosh giving unintentionally hilarious negging claiming bullying. Israel in a nutshell.

  • Anti-semitism is a bizarre and barely comprehensible little cult, but greatly beloved by the pro-apartheid lobby - 'look, someone defaced a gravestone in North London, so we can chuck a fuckload of Exocets at schools while they throw lawn darts in response'.

    really.

  • ^^ And posting that on here is what exactly?
A pissy little bit of bit of keyboard warrior bullying is what it is.
    Do one >>>>>>>>>>

  • Have you guys cracked this nut yet...?

  • Send Valverde there and Jew and Arab alike will unite against the wheelsucking Spanish infidel.

  • Anti-Semitism does exist.
Anti-Islamic feelings are far stronger, more commonplace and more accepted.
    Neither are acceptable.

Neither are ideal, but they're not necessarily equivalent. Anti-semitism is a racial prejudice; anti-islam(ism) is a stance (prejudiced or otherwise) taken against a religion i.e., a doctrine.

  • . I don't want to get involved.
I'm a Palestinian. Guess where my loyalties lie.

A day doesn't go by where I don't hope that the Israelis will be held accountable for the numerous war crimes they have carried out.

I don't wish for the destruction of Israel, I do wish for the end of the destruction of my people.

That list I mentioned above has grown significantly today. How any of you can look at the names and claim that this is legitimate force, or acceptable is beyond me. I feel the same when Israeli civilians are hurt, but by and large, they're not.

Finally @ Shoosh- your comment about human shields actually made me so angry I barely could contain myself. Such a disgusting, bare-faced lie.
@ffn- your comment is ignorant and wrong, and approaches apologizing. Anti-Islam was used as a useful term, for no term has yet been defined for the racism that continues throughout the UK and the world against Muslims and Arabs (and anyone who looks Muslim or Arabic).
Anti-Semitism no longer has a racial* component

    • By this I mean Jewish is not a race, at all, whereas the Semite race includes a large range of other religions.
This by no means condones it, for I think all religious, cultural and racial bigotry to be utterly, utterly disgusting.
**I am fully aware of the history of Anti-Semitism, so I apologise for poorly communicating that.
  • This is just disgusting. It's indiscriminate murder of civilians. Innocent people are dying, hospitals, schools, and refuges are being attacked by tanks and air strikes and the Israeli state is completely unrepentant. How can this possibly be defended?

  • It cannot. And should not.

  • Fuck this.

  • It's all so stupid. Like pretty much every war.

Choosing violence over dialogue is just wrong, and both sides have done so.

A world without borders or nations, and total freedom of movement, where everyone can live wherever they want, next to anyone else would make for a much more peaceful place.

  • get the fuck off my lawn!
