  • 'we want an ethnic breakdown of the population explosion'

    errrm, why does it matter?

Ethnic breakdowns are not needed.. Mohammed continues to retake top spot in English baby names.. Its the most popular names for at least the past 7 or so years...
    And its relevance: See http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20130401151715/https://www.education.gov.uk/publications/eOrderingDownload/RTP01-03MIG1734.pdf

  • Ah yes, Islam, that religion that isn't famed for having adherents all of one single ethnicity.

Perhaps you could say what you think the relevance of your link is, instead of relying on innuendo.

  • 'we want an ethnic breakdown of the population explosion'

    errrm, why does it matter?

On one level (and country of origin rather than ethnic background) it matters because these numbers will be used to predict future income and employment levels, and therefore spending levels. Aside from the shorter-term costs of housing, schooling and health provision, If most of the babies are born to people who have settled here then they can probably be expected to contribute to the country's budget in the future. If they haven't then no such assurances can be inferred, and spending plans ought to be made on the assumption instead that that income will not be available.

For example the more mobile EU migrants might very well move with their families back to their countries of origin, or to other EU countries, at some point in the future, whereas non-EU migrants are more likely to stay in Britain.

I am utterly appalled at what this country has become.

  • Oh and on that note, the most important thing to happen on the 31st of August is ME BEING BORN not anything else. You'll see what I mean at the end of the month.

And I thought you had already been born--how wrong one can be.

  • The top rated comments on this BBC article are depressing. 'Closet racists' indeed.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23618487

You wouldn't believe the comments beneath the Doreen Lawrence going to the House Of Lords on the Telegraph website, there were over twenty pages of unimaginable racist filth, accusing the Lawrences of all kinds of absurd things, including Mr Lawrence being famous for driving around north London screaming abuse at police officers, a neat trick, considering he lives in Jamaica. Many got deleted. I dunno if the Torygraph website's been invaded by BNP knuckle draggers, I prefer to think so, the alternative is just too depressing.

  • country of origin rather than ethnic background

This is the crucial difference, and the focus on the latter was what really surprised and disappointed me. The former, I agree, is very important in the analysis of the effect of demographic trends on spending and taxation going into the future.

That a lot of torys are racist and even with the loss of a few to the BNP and UKIP there are still enough to make stupid statements on a website?

Yay, born again Ben. Will there be pictures?
