utter tool of a minister on today programme this morning being pressed on what benefits had come from this bombsite of a policy just kept repeating, 'well, people like the fact that 111 is an easy number to remember'.

Interesting counter to the usual criticism of offshore jurisdictions re taxes:
http://www.jerseyfinance.je/valuetobritain/
One interesting headline is that the UK loses £480m (or less) from tax avoidance and £150m (or less) from evasion via Jersey. But it generates £2,3b.
(admittedly although written by an independent third party it's been commissioned by a slightly biased one)

Celebrations in Cairo. The Army has taken over. Arrest warrents have been issued for Morsi and key actors in the MB. Tanks are now rolling against MB HQs. Hopefully they act swift enough and with enough might to prevent an Algeria.

Update: A meeting between the head of the Egyptian armed forces, liberal opposition leaders and senior Muslim and Christian clerics, has ended and a statement will be issued within the hour..

So true. I have been following this saga and the media now hardly references the service he did. I had almost forgotten my outrage. like with assange

Its the 'Improving Human Condition' award. It was just a very small number of humans the he improved conditions for. Around 0.01% of people in the US.

A guy that I work with on the occasional project took a job as a senior manager at the 111 service. He lasted a week before leaving to seek employment elsewhere. When asked about how bad it was working there he tends to adopt the foetal position and rock backwards and forwards in a comforting manner.
For what it is worth, have had to use NHS direct a lot in the past. My experience of 111 was that it was a lot more effective. Got callbacks from doctors and real medical advice etc in a timely manner which I could never coax out of NHS direct.
Dont know whether it was a fluke, or due to changes in protocol.

I've thought about this, and the idea that someone has snooped on my emails or telephone calls doesn't bother me. Someone I dont know, and will never meet, it makes no difference if they overhear what I'm saying. I also find it hard to be offended or outraged on behalf of others to whom this is happening.
On the other hand, it is generally a good thing when people like snowden undermine their decietful, paranoid, power-obsessed governments. I'm bored of Assange now, though.

So you wouldn't mind if I went through your post, read your emails, etc?

Of course. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.
I mean, it's not as if people spend time rotting in prison for political, religious or moral beliefs, is it?

^^^^^A Star Fried Chicken employee remarked on my similarity to Assange the other day, but not before he'd predicted exactly what I was about to order. A psychic flatterer was more than I expected from a trip for a chicken fillet burger with fries.
After more research on 4chan I can now disclose this all 100% true... We have no need to fear Skynet...
