Do it, I've always wanted to be a commercial pilot, Fox, but it's mega expensive so I started learning on ickle planes in 2012.

Yeah, there is that too. How many flying hours have you clocked up?
And where do you go? Panshanger?
-
• #19229
Ha not many, only managed 9 in 2012. I go to Stapleford as I live out in Essex.

"What do you expect if you buy some cheap ground up pink slime?"
Brains, balls and bones... and a pinch of horse for added taste.
Bon appétit.

Would probably be quite happy with very low numbers, especially for this year. Have never been in anything smaller than a 737 so just a bit of going up in something that small would be exciting in itself.
I ride past Stapleford quite often when I'm out in Essex so that could work...

I'd offer to take you up when I've got my PPL but that may end up being some time at my current rate...

The UK government has always been pushing for greater broadband infratructure across the country. Get the country online etc.
Inevitable consequence of that is an impact on physical shops. They cant have it both ways. There's only so much shit that people will buy.

Because I am sad.
And because I always wanted to be a pilot, but then a nice lady came to school and told me I was blind as a bat (not a problem with corrective lenses) and red green colour blind (a problem).
It's actually quite possible that I'd be fine, there are more advanced tests now. There's definitely nothing to stop me taking up general aviation (icckle private planes) and I've decided I'm definitely going to have an introductory lesson this summer. I'm not sure I'd want to be a proper pilot now, lots of sitting around watching the computers do stuff.
Do what I do - run around the office with my arms outspread, going "weeeeeooooooooooowwwwwwwwww".
(With the occasional "buddabuddabuddabudda" when I see an enemy coming out of the sun.)

Looked in to doing the PPL course but as NH said, its really expensive. Its also quite hard to find work as a pilot, when I was working at cycle surgery (don't even) there was a chap with a commercial licence for two engine turbo props but he was from the states and couldn't afford to get the EU/UK licence, even then it would be difficult.
Also, airline pilots = sysadmin

Air Accident Investigators now working their way through the wreckage. It's quite surreal seeing this in Vauxhall.
And now I'm *finally *being sent home from work. To work from home.

A friend of mine was the fourth person to call emergency services regarding the copter crash this morning. She lives on Wyvil Road and turned right onto Wandsworth Rd towards the station only to see it happen all in front of her. The explosion knocked her to the ground, she's still in a massive state of shock.
Bizarrely the building which currently houses the tail section of the helicopter is insurance underwritten by another friend of mine who is now on his way to assess the damage with a loss adjuster.

Got woken by an email from my dad asking if I was alright, rushed down the road - less than a mile - tweeted some pics, then went to work. Then found out I was live-blogging it. Busy day so far.

This man is a genius:

A security check on a US company has reportedly revealed one of its staff was outsourcing his work to China.
The software developer, in his 40s, is thought to have spent his workdays surfing the web, watching cat videos on YouTube and browsing Reddit and eBay.
Because I am sad.
And because I always wanted to be a pilot, but then a nice lady came to school and told me I was blind as a bat (not a problem with corrective lenses) and red green colour blind (a problem).
