Savile now being linked to the Yorkshire Ripper murders. Anything else we can blame on him?
Interesting fact of the day. One of the Ripper victims was discovered by none other than Bruce Jones aka Les Battersby.

You a Manc Chadders ?
It was on the some allotments between Southern Cemetery and Hough End. I can remember there being posters up about it around the area.

Stockport.
You might be a bit older than me if you remember Ripper appeal posters. I just used to see Bruce Jones walking out of Robinsons pubs looking pissed in the afternoon quite a lot and my dad told me that he found one of the bodies.
The other Ripper fact I recently learned was this (from wiki)...
"When Sutcliffe was stripped of his clothing at the police station he was wearing a V-neck sweater under his trousers. The sleeves had been pulled over his legs and the V-neck exposed his genital area. The front of the elbows were padded to protect his knees as, presumably, he knelt over his victims' corpses. The sexual implications of this outfit were held to be obvious, but it was not communicated to the public until the 2003 book, Wicked Beyond Belief: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper, written by Michael Bilton."

Stockport? You poor bugger.
I went to Stockport last year on a stag weekend. The venue was a hotel with a nightclub bolted on the side.
A glorified knocking shop. Words cannot describe what I saw that evening.

Who the fuck goes to Stockport on a stag-do? Tell me you just stayed there and went out in Manchester.
To be fair to Stocky, it has got some nice parts (Bramhall, Heaton Moor). I lived in one of the fairly shite parts though. There are much, much worse towns to live in (Rochdale, Oldham, Bolton, Leigh, Stoke, Wigan) and you're in central Manchester in 10 minutes. So here's to Stockport.

We stayed in Stockport but went racing at Haydock, which wasn't a particularly pleasant experience in all honesty.
When travelling with a group of 48 blokes, choices of where you can all go are fairly limited.
Bredbury Hall was the name of the establishment. Some of things that occurred that weekend were shameful. Mainly with local "females" too.

Here's a very strange photo: Sutcliffe, Savile and Bruno at Broadmoor.
Note the style of the handshake.

Haydock has the dubious pleasure of being equidistant to Manchester and Liverpool. It attracts some decent horses though (insert your own joke about scouse girls here).
Lots of orange slags drinking cans of smuggled-in lager and doing coke in the toilets last time I was there.

That's almost perfectly described the weekend I had there.

Ah Stockport, I was at The Plaza there last night to watch the reissue of The Shining.
The Plaza Cinema and the Viaduct are by some margin the best things about it these days.

What about the bypass or the rail line through it?
-
• #17900
The rail line is on top of the viaduct. Dunno if there is a bypass as such.
Nadine Dorries to go on "I'm a Celebrity...".
Awesome. I can't see this making her look like anything other than batshit crazy.
