Probably heard it. Then rolled up to see the guy who just overtook him lying dead, and the car riddled with bullets. Horrific.

Something about that case has left me feeling very off. Really hideous.

Have you seen the pictures of the car? Rear wheels seem to have spun into the ground, engine was still running. Sounds like a horrible, frantic end.
-

Yeh, the photo of the car is pretty gut wrenching. I really wonder if they perhaps disturbed a drug-deal or something similar, which would be odd as drug dealers generally aren't murderers, unless it was already tense when they showed up. Then again, it could be anything.
I really, really hope the kids have someone familiar to them who can bring them up and that they aren't too scarred from the experience.

This ^
I think it's the thought of that little girl hiding underneath her dead mother for 8 hours and the vile nature of the attack. I really hope both girls have a loving extended family and will receive all the support they need.
Good on the British cyclist for saving the older daughter's life at the scene.

. I really hope both girls have a loving extended family and will receive all the support they need.
What makes it even worse is that they're now looking for the father's brother as a main suspect after a row about money.
If it turns out that's what happened, and he could do that to his own family...
Fucking hell.

Can someone with more political insight then myself explain why we can't lobby the lib dems to withdraw from the coalition and force a general election...?
in the general election parliament will be hung
lib dems will be the deciding party
they'll jump into bed with labour this time
and they do exactly what they've done with the cons .... get shafted againpoor lib dems, they need a good big swig of htfu

The same nonsense comes up every couple of years. Safe to ignore.
(Oops, sorry, Louis. :) )

It's not a new idea, eg: http://bldgblog.blogspot.co.uk/2006/01/sky-tunnels-of-toronto.html (the comments there are jazz)
Of all the transport systems you could put on an elevated path, bicycles might be the best because they are the lightest, so construction would be cheaper than that to carry heavy trains or cars.
I've daydreamed this before, with direction-segregated tubes and vents that adapt to the wind, channelling it in and out of the tube so that it's always a tail wind. I think the insides of the tubes would have to be quite smooth to preserve the air flow. Cylindrical tubes work quite well for bikes because you can lean into the corners better than with straight sides. I'm not sure how safe it would be though: Imagine a crash in a tube full of rush-hour cyclists doing 20 or better, or think of the poor sight-lines as a narrow tube bends round corners...
One things for sure though - i don't trust the man who gave us the superhighways to do it well.

It's absolutely stupid nonsense in every respect.

It's stupid because it's excessive, but were it feasible financially it could be quite fun if a little hot in the summer; like a hamster run.
The fact is that it's bullshit to whitewash the apathetic attitude the Mayor has toward cycling infrastructure. Why spend some money on making several death trap junctions safer, when you can do nothing and talk shit about sky pipes and people wil still call you the cycling mayor?

Who's the money behind the four-runway Thames Estuary bid? I.e. who's pulling Johnson's strings enough for him to unite with Goldsmith? The Bob Stewart story this weekend is hilarious.
-
• #16523
Incidentally, I think his version of events smells like bullshit.
Why would the Mail on Sunday of all papers break a story like that? More's the point, why would Stewart be asked to play the role of a stalking horse - a man fiercely (outwardly) loyal to Cameron? Could it be inverted and actually no-one came to him from the Johnson/Goldsmith coterie? And actually this is all a scam on behalf of Call Me Dave to root out anyone who jumps in on the side of Borizac?

Don't be ashamed of your A in O-level CDT Grant. Never let the bastards grind you down.
That's awful. He must have just missed what happened.
