Why not make the press release about red light running by road users in general? To not do so, when stats are available, suggests bias against one group of road users.

The name "institute for advanced motorists" suggests this alone. Why do people listen to something just because it's come from an "institute"

The IAM does actually promoted cycling, but coming out with this is strange behaviour.

Funny the IAM motorcycle course has very mixed reviews...

The part about "making progress" scared the life out of a mate. He said they were total nutters. Almost evangelical about how their way was the only way etc.

Another rider I know had a great experience. I think the bike section is staffed by volunteers. Some of em apparently are almost aggressive in the approach.

if you go to any of their meetings, you are likely to find a set of people who are very keen to promote skilled road use, a group who will freely acknowledge the fuckwittery of drivers with phones etc etc as slag off cyclists.

I had a summer job when I was younger (about 50 years ago it seems now) which involved driving all day- I was often out with an advanced driving instructor, and he made an awful lot of sense in terms of ensuring your own safety and that of others whilst driving.
