  • Not all income is PAYE or taxed at source.

Tax law / accounting is phenomenally complex.

HMRC loves to nail a celeb though, and have a whole department just for doing that.

(And for fucking it up - cf. Harry "Harry" Redknapp.)

Really? So is it just that complex for the sake of being complex? As in catching people out.

  • Interpol LOL - Journalist arrested by Interpol over Muhammad tweet.

    Barking.

    That's pure bampot.

You saw what he wrote, right?

"I have loved things about you and I have hated things about you and there is a lot I don't understand about you … I will not pray for you."

These extremist cunts need to get a fucking life, saying he should be executed for that. Morons.

  • He's already been extradited back there. Really poor show all round.

  • MIT are offering free online courses, the first one is electronics, in the future there will be science and maths courses.

  • You can already watch some MIT courses. I watched a few of Prof. Muller's Lectures on "Physics for future presidents". It was basically about nuclear weapons, satellites and stuff.

  • I think they are planning on putting all lecture notes online. You gain a certificate and grade at the end of these courses, as this is the pilot the certificate is free although I am not too sure how it will work in the future. It's a great way of making learning accessible and I will certainly be doing the maths course when it becomes available.

Yeah. That's what I was reacting to. Just utterly unfathomable how someone would think that was worthy of death. Or anything, really.

Aghhhh... things like this really bug me.

I couldn't care less about "owning" the Falkland's. Obviously I accept that there are rational logistical reasons to have a presence in the South Atlantic, especially next to an important trade area (that's rapidly growing). However, I still don't care.

There is only one question. What do the people who live there want. End fucking of.

Why on earth does it make any more sense for Argentina to "have" them, because they are relatively close?

The other thing that fucks me off is that the UN is so fucking lame. Just rock up, oversee a free and fair referendum where by the inhabitants of the Falkland's decide what they want, and then based on that result tell everyone else to piss off.

    ^ she always annoyed me

I always had a massive crush on her.

A big part of the complexity is working out exactly how much the money you receive, and what exactly that money is categorised as. It could easily be made simpler (but probably not simple).

IMO is has less to do with being complicated to "catch people", and more to do with keeping a ton of people employed - not least the Revenue. This erks me as the bill is footed by the tax payer and IMO the current structure is totally and unnecessarily inefficient. My cynical side says as HMRC's interest is in maintaining the status quo for their own ends, and for that reason it will never change.

  • I always had a massive crush on her.

with those thighs? She'd crush you.

  • thus the attraction

  • Guatemalan President flies in the face of Washington DC and calls for narcotics to be legalised in order to fight gang violence. A very interesting proposal from a supposedly right leaning man that deserves more column inches IMO. As a bonus, many of the comments are comedy gold.

Former MP Edwina Currie accused an indebted couple of 'living the high life' on a radio discussion of families feeling the pinch

What a surprise. I remember once flicking on 5 live to hear her arguing with a criminal psychologist that "some people are just born bad and we need to lock them up as quickly as possible and throw away the key"

When she was fucking John Major, they would have had to do it rough, talking dirty and all that, it's the only way anyone could endure it. I imagine her talking dirty amounted to "Oh John, I'm on minimum wage with children, and I've got a dog, how finacially irresponsible of me!" "Oh Edwina you filthy pleb"

I used to listen to 5Live when I was in bed when I was very young (6 or 7) and I distinctly remember calling to my mum and telling her that this Edwina woman on the radio was mean and unfair and unkind.
Now I am a little older I can confirm these things, and also add that she is a weapons grade cunt

"A bus driver who knocked a cyclist down in Bristol using his bus "as a weapon" has been jailed."

  • That video is fucking horrible.

  • The court was told Hill, a qualified driver with 10 years' experience, was previously of excellent character and his defence accepted the collision happened in "a moment of madness".

A moment of madness punctuating a lifetime of stupidity I'm sure.

  • It is horrible.

Just curious as to the implications of this - does this set a precedent for convicting someone for using a vehicle as a weapon? My understanding of UK case law is somewhat vague.

  • What an twunt. I could not believe what I was watching there that poor bloke, inches from death.

"A bus driver who knocked a cyclist down in Bristol using his bus "as a weapon" has been jailed."

    what a complete cunt

  • Martin McDonnell, from Bristol Cycling Campaign, said incidents like this were happening far too often.

Happened to me too, but on a country road with no CCTV. Luckily I was able to avoid the 4x4 who collided with the banked verge inches in front of my wheel. Driver proceeded to shout abuse, spit in my face and get out of the car to continue the discussion on foot until his wife in the passenger seat (who had been laughing until he left vehicle) talked him down and they sped off. All this in front of a queue of about 10 cars who were held up behind. No one stopped to offer assistance, and on reporting to the police, nothing could be done because the vehicle was unregistered.

The bus driver was done for dangerous driving (and GBH), but surely "using a bus as a weapon" constitutes at least an assault or perhaps even attempted murder and therefore a sterner sentence? 17months FFS.

    Cunts.
