The police spokesperson I heard (radio4) stated that they were compiling evidence against the others and were hoping that this conviction would start a sequence of events leading to their prosecution.

Which I read as them using this conviction as leverage to get further information (since the wall of silence might now be broken down) or to turn one of the remaining suspects "supergrass".

During the discussion of the radio they mentioned that there was talk of opening the investigation to the other 3. I don't know the details
