  • email it to every player and then insert a para in the waiver stating they have read the rules.

  • If you've got to sign a waiver, why not print the rules on the same bit of paper?

    I think it's a great idea.

  • Exactly. It can be in small print, so it all fits on the back, and there is nothing like having a copy to hand (otherwise no-one will read it).

  • On the back makes sense, although people don't tend to read them on the day anyway.

  • What's the ice for?

  • Because there aren't any there. At Ladies Army I really wanted to know the rules before I would ref. I had to go back to the hotel and print them off, just to be able to read them.

  • There should be some there, I can just imagine lots of copies getting chucked about if they are given to everyone to keep hold of.

  • Mojitos^^^.

  • I'd in fact go as far to say a copy of the rules should be supplied to each team, and when signing their waiver, they also have to sign they have read the rules. I'm going to do that for the qualifiers.

    Waste of paper.

  • Stop printing out his posts?

  • Although he does have some gems.

  • Waivers are double sided already... but yeah, add a sentence in their saying they agree to the proposed ruleset if you like.

It doesn't really matter, some people enjoy being oblivious of the rules...

  • Printout the rules and plastify them or how you call it and hang them at the refs spot..future use approved.

  • Exactly. It can be in small print, so it all fits on the back, and there is nothing like having a copy to hand (otherwise no-one will read it).

If the rules were put on one side of A4, they would be so small as to be unreadable without a magnifying glass.

Maybe 2 copies by registration? More than that is not necessary, in my view.

I would be more interested in seeing a sentence like:

"I agree to accept the decisions of the referees & tournament organisers without question".

Not with the current standards of reffing.

  • Not with the current standards of reffing.

Sorry, if you aren't prepared to accept a ref's decision, however flawed you might think it to be, then you shouldn't be playing organised sport.

  • If you don't know the rules, you shouldn't be reffing organised sport. Circular argument.

  • If you don't know the rules, you shouldn't be reffing organised sport. Circular argument.

I agree with this, sort of, but without refs, the sport isn't organised.

  • Come on, the refs should know the rules but how they implement them in a game is their decision, if they would do it perfectly every time a refs decisions is needed they would not be human, checkout the highest divisions of sports, even there refs make mistakes (champions league, etc).

Obvious the players are frustrated by that in the heat of the game, but the refs AND players should learn from it. Accepting wrong decisions is maybe the hardest part but you should.

  • I'm not sure I wish to do everything a ref tells me throughout the tournament, that could be abused, but during play, yes, even if/when they are wrong.
There are a lot of rules, so knowing them all exactly might be a problem, but if you have a good knowledge of them and a copy of them that should be enough for a player/ref. The only time you're going to need to resort to the write up is for something weird anyway.

  • If you dont 100% agree that the ref's decision is final and to abide by every decision, however wrong that they make, you shouldent be allowed on a polo court for competitive polo

    +1

  • Shit this thread rocks, i miss the whole stuff since 2 months.

I think for Worlds in GVA we gonna try to take the better from NAH new draft rules, with some small tweak as the euro Ball joint rules (half court version is weird), no solid top bar nets (same as red ones ehbpc 2010 and main court in berlin in worlds 2010).
