That's more of an issue if you go for the tightest, smallest rollup but you'll still be able to pull it apart.
And the stickiness of the spare and rim will be enough to hold the tire in place, just be careful cornering.
If the spare is to remain on the rim check it the next day and determine if more glue is required.
Riding will make the bond more secure but sometimes not good enough.
It's a pain to do this but it doesn't happen that often, if you invest in good tires.
Will you repair your flatted tubs or throw them away?
thank you dmc - you obviously are not old and grumpy - I will be riding veloflex servizio corsa - if I puncture i'd like to send them away for repair - but I don't know where? just bolted up a set of NOS C-record cranks onto the Pinarello - they look stunning..:)

The mercian got sold to a roadie named Julian who is a friend of MrSmith
I very nice chap with alot of very nice road bikes
The Pinarello is being built up slowly and it is slow because I am so busy with University
The plan is to replace the mercian with something fixed and Italian
and build it up pista C-record, sheriff stars the works -

I repaired one of my tubulars, it took ages + it was a bit of a pain but with practice itwould only take 15-20 mins. you just need a sharp needle with a bigger hole at the top as the tubular stitching thread is quite thick.

I hardly have even time to ride my bikes so I am going to send them to that bloke in Yorkshire maybe when I have finished uni I'll figure out fixing them myself

The other option is taking a box of tub tape around with you, and tape the new tub on if you get a flat.
I'd recommend getting a knackered old tub, and practice taking it apart and sewing it back together before you go on your trip. Maybe use a tougher tub as well ?
Bike looks lovely by the way. Going to put Ergo's or downtube shifters on it ?

It is a little to early for ergo shifters so I have downtube shifters for it - good idea about practising roadside repairs but I am going to follow the railway to the seaside
