  • Technique also play a big roles too.

    I lol'd.

  • 26.5mm wide at their widest, measured on a 19mm internal width rim.

These are the new ones (white sidewall text) but I checked an old one (yellow text) and it measured identically.

So- the 28c are the same width as they used to be, albeit that that isn't 28mm.

  • So the ReFuse come up smaller than claimed generally.

  • I believe so, yes.

  • Perfect, as by chance I'm looking for a tyres slightly bigger than 25mm that'll fit under the 35mm mudguard.

If I can find the damn thing in 28mm, even our distro couldn't get them.

  • These came from Australia

  • You get hit with imports dammit? And where from/how much?

  • No duty, and the place mentioned earlier in this thread.

  • Okay, thanks, I'm gonna give some Hutchinson intensives a go, will report back in one of the other tyre threads

    Iirc pro4's in 25mm are around 27mm.

Obviously a very different tyre though.

  • what about the ones with the orange text? even older than the ones with yellow text?

  • Testing week 1 update:

So this is the outcome of the first week of testing them (51x16) riding them through London and back, plus a little abuse from London to Cambridge and so far so good, the knobby texture that came with the new surface is pretty much gone and now I'm left with this, I must say although this is a 23c (also measured the tyre its a 23c, just looked smaller due to rim) it stops really well, I just need to get use to the new squeaky sound compared to the hardshell, but overall so far to good, will report in a month later to see whats what, although I will be riding them with 51x19 setup from now on.

  • You know the secret on how to make the tyres last longer?

    Stop skidding.

  • It's a very soft compound not good for skiderring at all

  • Squeaking noise goes after a week usually. They do only last a 4-6 weeks of heavy skidding though (or about 10 days of touring)

  • You know the secret on how to make the tyres last longer?

    Stop skidding.

True dat, the compound is very soft but stops and corners very well, so far so good for £37 for the pair.

  • I've cracked and ordered dirt cheap Schwalbe Marathon Supremes 28c instead from JE James (£45/pair this weekend) for a more robusto commuting tyre

  • Now go and stand in the corner.

  • I make the new ones to be 26.6mm and a rim with an internal width of 18mm:

  • Need something in a hurry; rear tyre looks like it's been self harming.

  • Like this?

  • Out of stock!

  • Where are peeps coppin (that's right, I said coppin) their Maxxis Refuses these days? There seems to be a big ol' drought! Black. 700 x 25c ideally.

  • There aren't any good suppliers of black 25cs that I can find. In desperate need, so had to go for 23c. allteraincycles.com have black 23c for £19.99 and will have 25s back in stock mid-May. Which is when I assume all the other sellers will be getting them too.
