big hill + big gear = big strengh
turn that into acceleration and endurance for the summer, happy days

i reckon its pretty neglegible too. theres many variables and it also comes down to your riding style. i ride both SS and fixed, but i ride my ss much like my fixed with constant pedaling. the hills in cornwall are really big and theres no way you can ride down them as fast on a fixed as SS, it cant be possible for a human legs to move that fast. i love fixed riding but i dont care what anyone says, theyre not for that kind of enviroment.
yeah i agree that breaking is easier on your legs when you ride SS, but do you really use that much strength when skidding, i certainly dont.
when you ride down hill you dont use any strength either on fixed, i just leg my legs go with the pedals, and push a little to go faster.
riding fixed uphill is easier becuase the momentum of the bike revolves the pedals through the dead spots, and as long as the bike is moving the pedals are too, and thus giving you somewhat of a helping hand. i think this is pretty obvious to be honest, the momentum uphill is one of the reasons i like riding fixed.

Girls legs and a fanny.
Ergo, you are a girl?
;)I have huge legs. I think it must have a lot to do with what shape your body is to start with. Mind you, mine seems to build muscle quite easily. And I eat loads, which probably contribute to the bulk.
P.s. Oh yeah, and I'm a girl, in case that wasn't obvious.

if you want bigger muscles it's not rocket surgery:
- eat more
- take protein supplements
- lift weights
- train harder (ride faster)
your body will adapt and grow muscles.
this so-called "smoother riding style" of fixed is no different to SS when racing nodders on hybrids. if your gear ratio is the same, your acceleration and top speed at a given cadence are the same, the freewheel makes no difference.
- eat more

No need to be rude.

Anyway when do we see these pictures? I might use mine as a new avatar.

I'm not being lazy, just trying to rest and ensure that my thighs do not grow too large.

The latest update is 'soon' but please don't ask for a legal definition of 'soon'.

My calves were bulkier when I was lifting weights and running 100/200/400 as a teenager. Then they slimmed down a bit while I was smoking loads of skunk and mainly sitting down. Then they bulked up a little bit when I was taking loads of ecstasy and dancing for 8 hours at a time. Then they slimmed down a bit while I was taking loads of ecstasy and LSD and mainly lying down and fucking for 8 hours at a time. Then they bulked up a bit when I went on a 3 year mission to get better at riding hills out of the saddle on a fixed. Now I've found a happy medium in all departments.

Lucky bastard. Mine are like a Kenyan endurance runner's.

My legs are kinda big .. not really, though, they're still kinda skinny. OK, more 'normal'. But imo having big legs from bike riding is only useful for riding a bike, they don't help me run/swim!

I've also found a happy medium.

is this the intro for your autobiography, due out for christmas?!
If you want big legs, lift weights, or spend some time at the track.
I would put money on the difference between fixed and ss being neglegible.
I have no idea what 'momentum' fixed has going up hills.
