  • Have you build this up? Any ride reviews?

  • Nope! Had a baby instead...

Thanks for re-motivating/minding me. I've just bought the fsa chainring tool and some dot 5.1 so I can finish it this weekend.

    Ride review coming soon!

  • Got out on this early doors for the first time in ages, fun.

I'll utfs in a mo, has anyone in here riden / got the Spitfire frame? Any thoughts?

  • How do those work with top caps and compressing the headset?

  • You could stick it on top of a threaded steerer extender, all a bit funky though.

  • Hole in the back, longer bolt!

  • The Crust ld stem has a hole in the top for a steerer bolt so this one too I guess
    Edit: too late

  • Does it have a bung for the hole?

  • To stop the water going down the hole. Or is it only a shallow recess for a bolt head?

  • Nah! Just a hole

  • Very nice. No need for one but might just buy anyway. How much steerer is needed?

  • Also on one branded bullmoose. Seem to be an exact copy without the engraving.

I might sell my Jeff jones copy bars as well as I don't have a use for them. Fitted to a stem but never used beyond that.

  • About 55 mm, measures 65mm to stop but I can’t push it on my steerer that’s far

  • Ahhh, makes sense!

  • Okay... it’s stuck on my steerer... help.

Removed all bolts, the top bolt is spinning both ways. Wiggles side to side, moves up and down a few mm.. what to do?!

  • Put some handlebars on and try pull/turn it off whilst holding wheel straight ?

  • Flip the bolts into the threaded side, place a coin in the gap, tighten the bolts?

  • Have done both, stem spins, no lift though. Tried the open the gap more with a wedge but no change! So ducking weird... called it a night and painted the fence to relax my frustration. Have a look in the morning... my 2 year old will probably just pull it straight off the bugger!

  • ? You should be able to tighten the bolts into the threaded section, against the coin(s) in the gap, and easily open up the clamp without damaging anything? ....if this doesn’t work, I don’t know what will!

  • Yeah I have done this, it spins, but won’t move upward!

  • Tried pulling down on the forks?

  • Ooooks! Can you leave outside to chill overnight, pour boiling water on the stem tomorrow morning, and see if that frees it?

  • Sort of, difficult with rack / basket / wheel / guard / space!

Can’t think what it is, there is a stop so the steerer can’t go “round” the bend...
