  • Some of my best friends are daft cunts.

  • "But! Some of my best friends!!"

    piss off

She has a white dad and an off white mother. I think she's Irish.

  • Some of my best friends are daft cunts.

    High 5?

  • White people see a darker skin and say black. Black people see a lighter skin and say white.

When we see in black and white we label people. Why do we keep on doing this? Aren't we all the same?

I dont agree with this. Why is there a problem with calling a black person "black", a white person "white"? English, Australian, American, man, woman, short, tall, young, old, Jewish, Christian...

Yeah, we're all the same. We're also all different.

  • I see his colour. He's black. I think its significant.

He's mixed race. His mother was white and his father black. If you say he is black it's just as valid to say he's white.

It defiantly is significant that he has black heritage in the context of US politics but it's what his plans are that people should be judging him for rather than "ohh a man with a black Dad is going to be president".

It's not really as he is black.

Try telling the US that they have another valid white President.

Agreed... but... he's black... or something. I mean, Im mixed race too, but im pasty colgate white. The fact is, its significant that he's not white. It doesnt matter what you call him. I think it represents a pretty big shift in the mentality of US voters.

But yeah, the proof is in the pudding and his race isnt whats going to define his legacy.

Definitely! We are all human, but we all live our lives within different cultures and contexts. That is what makes people such an amazing animal. It is the lack of understanding and acceptance of ways different than our own that leads to the endless trouble and sadness that have dealt with through our history.

  • The Mexicans are next in line!! Viva Mexico!

  • Why does everything always turn into some fucking tribal bullshit? Who gives a fuck what creed/colour/sexual persuasion/other pointless pigeon holed demographic someone belongs to?

Obama, irrespective of the colour of his skin, was a far better candidate and will do more for the US than McCain could have possibly hoped to achieve.

Crippen, you've been very outspoken on this but with little to fuck all substance to a lot of your comments which simply rehashed a summary of the bullshit being reported on certain anti-obama websites and newsreels. It's a pointless waste of fucking time and the negativity and utternaces should as, "he'll be dead soon" are vicious and loathesome. If you're that unhappy with the state of the fucking world do something about it yourself, rather than sitting on the interweb discussing it like you're a higher power of knowledge than the rest of the internet users you preach too.

Alternatively, you could grow up and fuck off.

FFS! He's not black, he's mixed race!

Don't preach at me you soft headed cunt. You are easier to wind up than a fucking top.

The US is in a fucking shite state and one man is going to take a long time to change it. Hysteria or not, I hope he does well, but like I JUST said, one man does not a mountain of change make.

  • FFS! He's not black, he's mixed race!

There were a number of subsequent posts on this.

  • lets not make a mountain out of a molehill.

  • Try telling the US that they have another valid white President.

I never said he was white, just that if you are going to say he is black it's just as valid to say he is white.

The name black clearly come along because people originating from African people have black skin however plenty of people from parts of India have black skin, but are not referred to as black.

Black is used to refer to ethnic groups of people originating from Africa.
White is used to refer to ethnic group of people originating from Europe.

A black albino is still ethnically black. Their skin may be white but they are still black.

Obalma has one white (europen) parent and one black (African) parent. So to say he is white is just as valid as saying he is black.

I have nothing against people calling a black man a black man or a white man a white man when it is true. People seem however to have a problem with calling someone mixed race, or mixed or what ever though as if it's some how an insult.

EDIT: I agree with Baki that just not white is the significant part in terms of historic politics and it will be years before it will be really possible to judge whatever the policies what he puts in place.

  • Obama, irrespective of the colour of his skin, was a far better candidate and will do more for the US than McCain could have possibly hoped to achieve.

Obama was definitely the better candidate no argument. But when you look at the history of African Americans in the U.S. what we have just done is a dream that I never thought I would see in my lifetime. 50 years ago the U.S. was a segregated country and the KKK and the Dixicrats in the south were a force to be reckoned with. Having a "Black" man ascend to the presidency is absolutely incredible! The color of his skin is a huge positive in this case.

People of mix race are never called white though (apart from in Prison etc). You are not called black or white because of your blood or who you are inside.

Obama is a black man as far as 90% of the World is concerned.

  • Don't preach at me you soft headed cunt. You are easier to wind up than a fucking top.

Does it make you feel big and clever winding people up on the internet with your prejudice bullshit. Give your mom a call, I'm sure she'd be proud of you. as for preaching, if there was a little more positivity in the world rather than your negative crap maybe things would actually get done.

The US is in a fucking shite state and one man is going to take a long time to change it. Hysteria or not, I hope he does well, but like I JUST said, one man does not a mountain of change make.
One man bringing together a lot of other people. The US president, whether you like it or not, has a lot more power than your average just one man. That said, I truely believe than a singular person can make a difference, if you disagree that's your failing. Not mine.

  • FFS! He's not black, he's mixed race!

I dont know what other mixed peoples experiences are. But for me (Mexican/American) If I identified myself as half Mexican I was frequently asked to pick a side. But it's impossible. I think you are what you grew up with and identify with. For me, I feel both. I am white on the outside and brown on the inside (Like a Burrito) and I am incredibly proud of both sides. I get the feeling that Obama would agree. It's not for us to label him one way or another. He is what who he wants to be.

You sound like a true American. 'Change!' haha!

Don't get so wound up flower, I'm no more prejudice than your average WASP.

  • Crippen, your chasing of argy-bargy, in the headlong rush for "reps" is childish.

Winding up people is best left for others with more skill, guile, and cerebral fortitude.

Looking at your posts, was at first amusing; insofar that you were being laughed at, not with.

But you're becoming a bit nonsensical. Can't you add some wit to your attempts at controversy?

I'm a white man as far as 90% of the people I meet are concerned. I'm just as Mexican as I am white. I'm mixed-race and called white all the time.

Don''t get me wrong, I'm not in anyway disputing just how amazing it is that the USA have just elected the first non-white president. It's an awesome acheivement.

But I do state that the problem with the whole world, not just the US, is the adherence to the "not one of mine" mindset. Humans are by their very nature tribal animals, yet this can be over ridden if people have a little empathy and a lot of compassion.

  • Debate is healthy, Shit slinging is boring.

  • You sound like a true American. 'Change!' haha!

Don't get so wound up flower, I'm no more prejudice than your average WASP.
Would it even matter if I was American. As it stands I'm not but you highlight my point perfectly. Why do you feel the need to apply so many labels?

I am Emilié Object. An individual being capable of making my own choices without the need for back up from a country, town, peer group.

You are Dr.Crippen. An individual being capable of making his own choices without the need for back up from a country, town, peer group. Yet you seem blissfully unaware of this.
