  • Are we going to have an agenda for this meeting or what?

  • You will need someone to minute the meeting.

  • Yes. Agenda. Should we throw ideas for discussion up now?

Do we want to be in depth, and discuss issues of ownership and organization right away? A constitution? Or just talk about t-shirts? We should elect members of the nocturnal bike polo council, but first we need to know how many members are needed/desired. We should decide on the relationship between the LBPA and the League (I think the league should be sanctioned by the LBPA - I may be the only one though?)...

mark thats really helpful... not... i think andys put one up already... and the first post has a sketched out idea.

  • Time: So Roxy suggested this Sunday to get together and start this thing. How about 5pm?

Venue: Bill, those 2 places you suggest cost money to hire (only £20 but still...). Does anyone have a spare room/hall/office we could meet in for free?

**Nominations: **We need nominations for committee members. Min of 3 people (Chair, Treasurer, Secretary) but 5 would probably be better. If we have more than 5 people nominate, we can have a vote on the day.
    **
Agenda:** I guess we need an agenda for the meeting, just so it doesn't get out of hand or become a massive discussion of Bill's ball handling technique. Suggestions for agenda items can be posted up here or sent to whoever wants to handle this. My thoughts are we can start by discussing what we want the LBPA to be and where we want it to go. We can also discuss the EBPC and the league. After that we can do the official stuff which will be:

    1. sign everyone present up as members
    2. vote for committee
    3. agree constitution (I'll post up a standard constitution for people to read beforehand).

    Thoughts?

    here.

  • Ray, read things before you post.

  • mark read this...

    youre a knobjockey.

    ignored.

  • Hopefully that's the case; it would be nice to no longer have to put up with your nonsensical replies to my posts.

  • Where is the meeting? What time? Who is moderating?
    Yes, can this be formal-ish?

I can bring my news from the national BC meeting this weekend and recognizing bike polo as a sport.
I can bring my conversation with Ottawa Brian and the Federation.
And we will know by monday whether London is the only bidder for the EBPC's and if we are, we're hosting.

  • (or spread the words;)

London Bike Polo Association, first meeting, 17th of Nov, 8PM, Horseshoe Bar, Clerkenwell Close)

    .

  • Thanks Rik,
Do we have a private room there?

  • Yes, we have a private floor just for us.
moderating, I suppose will be Bill, or Andy(Lebowski) or yourself
there are talkings about an agenda, so yes, will be as formal us we can make it

  • sounds great guys, good going, see you there.

  • I'm happy to facilitate, if BB or Andy or Roxy doesn't want to. Just offering.

  • I will wear a tie if it is going to be formal.

  • I expect that the meeting will be formal. I am happy to moderate, but who will take minutes?

  • I can take the minutes

  • BUMP: London Bike **Polo **Association, first meeting, 17th of Nov, 8PM,Horseshoe Bar, Clerkenwell Close)

Also I've just been chatting to an ex clubmate of mine who works for BC and already has some involvement in polo under BC...will bring what he said with me ce soir....is there gonna be a BC rep there?...could invite him if the consensus is that it's a good idea....although it's short notice anyway.

  • I think we are probably better off delegating someone to meet with BC on our behalf, rather than have them come along to our first meeting. We need to get organised before we start affiliating, IMO

  • +1 bb

  • agreed

  • Ok, I guess we should get a bit organised for tonight. Bill and Matt have both offered to chair the meeting. Do you guys want to work it out between yourselves? Fisticuffs, perhaps?

I think it's also agreed that we need an agenda, so here's my suggestion:

    1. Discussion of what we want the LBPA to be. What it covers, what it doesn't. How exactly it will work etc. - 30 mins (It's important that the moderator/chair makes sure everyone gets a say and that the discussion progresses and doesn't just go round in circles. If something is discussed and decided upon, whether by vote or general consensus, then move on).

    2. Administrative bits. How many committee members? How long do they serve? Aims of the organisation? (taken from item 1 above). Agree constitution. 20 mins

    3. Nominate committe members and vote for first committee. 10 mins.

    4. What happens next. What the new committee and the whole LBPA will do next. Decide next meeting. 20 mins.

Obviously the discussion will probably bring up a whole lot more issues, or people may want to add them here.

  • Bill can do it. I just offered in case nobody else wanted to do it.

  • What positions are there in a management committee? Is this something that will be decided tonight, then nominations and votes on the same night too? (Sorry, i have no clue as to how this works). What I am trying to say is that is it only people who go to the meeting tonight who get to give their nominations or votes?

  • Is there going to be any south representation? B - you mentioned you could make one only, and chose tomorrow. Does that mean you'll come today?
