  • Terry's work will have been ridden to victory by the majority.

I look at podiums lately and see a lot of UKSI, Look, BT and occasionally FES, Cervelo, Koga and Felt. Oh, and notably Simona Krupekaite on her pink Dolan. Are you giving Dolan credit for all the UKSI/Team GB bikes?

  • No. But most of the riders that use those are on Dolans the rest of the time and were on them before the UKSI frames appeared.
And you probably thought those were Mavic wheels too.

Don't forget the masters and paras, incidentally, more Dolans again.

  • Your proposition seemed to imply that actual Dolan frames had been ridden to victory in recent world championships. I can't think of any more examples than Krupeckaite, although I'm happy to be corrected, as I'm sure I will be if you insist on taking the very broad definition of world championship to include age and disability categories which are run at different locations and dates from the actual, real, all-comers, no holds barred proper World Championship.

Not that I dispute the central premise, that Dolan frames are good enough for world champions, but you didn't need to over egg the pudding; SK's two championships on their own are sufficient to make the point.

  • I can see how what I said may have implied that. My original statement was intended to suggest that the advertising tagline wasn't quite as far-fetched as it sounded, as many of the riders who have "taken the world by storm" rode Dolans in many of their victories.

And what's wrong with being inclusive? is Dave Legrys' world record any less valid because he is over 50?

  • Just added the twinlike Bottechia and Guerciotti versions of the same-framed bikes. Seems like everybody is just buying these up from China and adding bits to it, then their brand. I'm not impressed.

Are these the same frames as VISPs?

  • It certainly does look that way.

  • that is a shame that Guerciotti have stooped to re-branding shite Tiwanese frames.

on another note, i need to sort a new bike out for next season, as i think the Pinarello is just a litle too small for me.... thought it may be a bit cheaper to do it over the winter.

The Milani Segiorni is in the lead at the moment, but i'm unable to find it as a frameset only... anyone got any clues?... the wiggle build seems to have pretty shit components for the price.... i'm also thinking that i only want that frame because it has a nice paintjob, but essentially it's no different to a Dolan Track Champ?

One of the new Fuji Track Pro's with the integrated seat post (complete build) is also taking my fancy... they seem very well specced for the price.....

and then of course there is the PX stealth fueselage....... but that seems a bit much for my needs.... but they are so cheap!

    confused.

  • hoops: if you were buying a computer, what would you do?
buy the best you could afford?

  • yeah, but i dont have to colour co-ordinate my lycra with my computer do i?
    can you see my predicament?

Different tubes, different BB shell and seat cluster design, different sizing and geometry. So quite a lot different. Look closer...

  • And does biege (sic) go with black/red/white?

  • yeah, but i dont have to colour co-ordinate my lycra with my computer do i?

i can see how that might be a problem....

(just buy the blingingest bike and don't co-ordinate)

  • And does biege (sic) go with black/red/white?

    in my mind it does....

  • Different tubes, different BB shell and seat cluster design, different sizing and geometry. So quite a lot different. Look closer...

sorry, this is why i was asking.... just wanted some other opinions really... i know you rate the Track Champ, and thought you might throw up some pros and cons.

  • Dolan Track Champion. Accept no substitutes....

    Here Mdcc_tester tester tester....... ;) ;) ;)

  • PX stealth fueselage....... but that seems a bit much for my needs.... but they are so cheap!

If you think it's the best chassis you can get for the money and it's in your price range, just buy one and forget about whether you think you're "worthy" of a carbon bike.

  • He's not worthy of a bike made of cheese let alone carbon

  • Are these the same frames as VISPs?

they look very very similar, except cost 10x the amount. In fact, I can't spot a single difference except the forks.

I've only given that milano thing a cursory look over, so can't really comment.
The track champ is a good sprinters choice, maybe not the best geometry for endurance compared to the other stuff out there..

PX carbon is a good frame, ask Giz he's owned and ridden both.

  • they look very very similar, except cost 10x the amount. In fact, I can't spot a single difference except the forks.

    Yeah.

I'd rather get a Visp and build it the way I like than pay top dollar for one of those.

  • PX Carbon frame also look fucking lush, as good a reason as any to buy one.

  • Are these the same frames as VISPs?

I was told the Bottecchia and Guerciotti are made of 7005 tubing. And Visps are 6061.

  • I think I've got that one listed in the list on page 2 of the New Track Frames in London thread. I really need to consolidate these things.
