harrow road either way is terrible not only for pot holes but there aren't many cyclists so people just like to open their car doors on to the road as wide as possible, with out looking.

Just had a call from a mate who just came off his bike on Hyde Park Corner due to a pot hole and left part of his face on the tarmac. Ambulance has been called. Be careful out there.

I thought Kilburn high road was bad.. until last night I rode back from Dalston. WTF is going on with Kingsland Road at the moment? Particularly that temporary lights chicane-of-death just down from Dalston Lane??!!

OMG I was forced from the comfort of the south into hipster territory the other night and experienced the very same chicane-of-death. Grim, just like its surroundings.

the road that goes past waterloo station has got massive potholes all over the place. One of the most used roads in london, with two big (nodder) bike shops nearby, and the road is barely has a sq ft of smooth surface.

Waterloo Road, quite right, it's really bad, but it is not much of a problem if you change tyres and riding style (like riding near the middle of the road, so you have more room to maneuver certain potholes amongst other reasoning).
everything can be adapted.

The Big Winter Freeze has really thrown into relief (if you will) the patchwork of shitty bodge jobs of endless companies digging up our roads.
In Sweden they have to apply to dig up the road, then wait for several companies to do it all in one go, then put it back nice. But that's Sweden.
Surprise f**k-off big pothole and truck behind you = death!

I ran into this perusing a bit tonight while the kids are taking over the house - you guys have it easy - we are just getting above freezing here - been riding on a 2" bed of ice all winter, and we get potholes that take out wheels. Sweden is about like it is here. But we do ride all winter on studded tires. I loved riding around London a few years ago - the drivers (cagers) over there are much more aware of bikes. Over here, the freeze/thaw kills the roads in the spring, but I did put the skinnies on today for the first time since December - wheeeee.

I stand corrected about Sweden! :-)

Potholes between London Bridge and Old St were pretty craterous until recently

Crater-tastic!
If I get time, I'll take a photo of Golders Green Crescent, adjacent to Golders Way. It really does resemble the moon. -

waterloo road is a nightmare - loads of buses, constant roadworks, 1001 people walking from the city to station trying to cross the road without looking, and more pot hole than tarmac. whoop.

Now if hopefully the time we should start seeing lots of repairs. End of financial year innit.

Going Southbound over Blackfriars bridge: Please DO NOT stick too close to the left of the lane at the start of the bridge (just after Queens Street on your left), where, it veers round to the left. The works have been fenced off with solid 8ft boards so you're kinda hidden around the corner. Any motorised vehicle picking up speed behind you will little time to see you especially at night as it is not well lit.

The asphalt in Manchester was so badly damaged during the -14 freeze that we can now see the cobbles on some streets. But the council just wants to lay new gas pipes. I'm off to get some sparking clogs and a flat cap in the morning...oh, and some sronger wheels.

Seriously, get a bell. Then ride at normal (or slightly increased) speed towards the lights (assuming they're green) while ringing it loudly and grinning as the crowds scatter in your wake.

Or just take your time, there's no rush.
