Skully,
Was thinking of chopping my own B17 and was wondering if you have any tips (PM if you want them to remain secret).
Do I need to lace/link, or is chopping fine without it?
Is it best to wet the leather slighly before chopping?
Do I need specialist tools or can I get away with old lino (printing) tools/knives?Any advice greatly appreciated.
Or would I be better of posting it to you along with some beer tokens ?

^ I recall reading something on the interweb about trimming down a brooks saddle and the guy used an angle grinder. I reckon it would have to be a stone cutting disc.

My boss used to be an upholster so I may be able to nab some tools from him and I have read on other threads about using a dremmel. with a cutting disc.

May I be next in line for a saddle pimping please Mr. Skulls?
Q: What's the max number of letters in the fancy cowboy typeface on a b17 Spec? -
• #309
I used a dremmel with cutting wheel.
Stank so fecking badly I'd definitly use a knife next time. I used shoelace instead of a link, i also cut the tabs for joining way too far forward so its not quite as stiff as it should be.
Was pretty easy and it looked ok on my ratty saddle, would allow skully the honour if I was gonna buy a new one tho... -

Just wanted to thank Skully for the customisation job he did on my B17. Thanks!

are you still chopping?
-
• #312
hey!
Umm well from time to time, coppiThat. I hardly seem to find the time any more. You want? I am just sorting out one that is super soft and oily, much too soft for the rider, so I've done a kind of tied version of a swift (less hide removed), only chopped out even less than than on a swift. Hopefully once it's tied with four bolts it'll toughen up, leaving most of the flap unchopped will help keep it firm.
That^^ for marco one wasn't exactly the easiest... getting letters on the flap at the back was tricky as f.

Skully can you do lettering across the seat of a B67S? It's brand new and the leather is literally rock hard at the moment, do I need to soften it up a bit before a stamp will work?

I'm in for some stampage too if you want to combine all this ^^ on one day?

Mr Skully,
If you're still in the chopping game, could I request you set about my Team Pro? Have a bag of pound coins and some good port as payment.
Thanks,
Mr ocdc

Hey Scully, I just got a Wright brown saddle, looks like a narrow B17 are you still doing the chop? The leather needs a bit of love too as its sunk a bit in some places. Thanks
