  • title says it, im getting a vibration from the front of my bike, i think ive worked out its not the wheel, it might be the forks but i don't have a bloody clue! don't like it anyway, what do people suggest? anyone care to take a look at it?

  • Grab bits, move them around. Loose ones likely to be the cause.

    Hippy's guide to love making

  • I make love to my bikes..

    Headset bearings?
    Brakes?
    Wheel bearings?

    When does it happen?

  • is that why you like plenty of lubrication?

    splash…

  • it happens when i go over rough ground.

i don't ride brakes laughs at brakes so it couldn't be that
im pretty sure its not my wheel bearings, i have a front bontrager wheel which seems solid and its a good quality wheel.

it might be the headset, im really not sure though and i don't know how to confirm if it is it nor not...

  • Good quality stuff still wears out..

You ride brakeless but can't adjust a headset.. omg

haha i can adjust it, ive tried fiddling around with it but it still vibrates.
im not sure if somethings a wrong fitting and ive just been nieve to it... hmmm

  • had a quick look, i will read it more thoroughly tomorrow once im more sober.
    thanks.

  • tighten your headset

  • and check you spoke-tension

  • yep headset
Spoke tension you feel on corners, or it would give you a kick, but not a rattle

  • this isn't the thread i thought it was going to be ... :(

  • you after one of those battery operated boyfriends Matt? PM Hippy, he's got loads!

  • You'd know.. you've "ingested" enough of them.. :P

  • i am going to plant some abuse in a thread you wont find..... watch me!..

  • You're setting yourself up for a fall there Pip! But I wish you the best of luck sir.

  • Nah... I can't read them all these days.. best of luck GS :)

  • i tightened stuff up and fiddled around with stuff today however, its still here... im lost, maybe a bike shop is my only option...

  • sure the origin of vibration is front? i had some dodgy (very loose) spokes in my back wheel and this caused a vibration felt through front wheel.

  • It'll be the gamma rays then..

Cuppa T, are you in London? Why not get one of us to look at your bike?

  • im like 93% sure is coming from the front, if i push down on the stem and drop the rear end of the bike against the floor there is nothing where as if i push down on the seat and drop the front end of the bike it rattles...

  • ah, a rattle you say??? could have something in the steerer tube, stem.....still sounds like the headset has some play tho.
