I am working nights so off in the days again, can go to the orchard park office tomorrow if needed but suppose if we're talking to the council it's prob not necessary?

Power, do you have the guy at orchard park's contact details?
Maybe we can get a deal somehow..
I have a feeling I used the cambridgebikepolo at gmail address, it was a long time ago. Do we still have access to that? It will be in the old messages from around autumn 2010.

Where do we go this evening ? We're lucky: the weather seems to stay dry again.

not playing tonight, although I just went down barnwell to see that state of things, the fences are pretty over grown with weeds and bushes on one side...may need a good trim before we play.....otherwise its alright......pretty ruff though, wore down my milk mallet pretty quick and i was only knocking the ball around for 5 minutes....

Thanks, will check the emails.
It was actually in my inbox:
Hi Matt,
We think that the courts you are referring to are those in Orchard Park, in which case these are owned by South Cambs District Council and not the City Council. You can visit the South Cambs website www.scambs.gov.uk for more information on their facilities, or phone 03450 450500
If these are not the courts you are referring to then if you could provide us with more details of their location we will try our best to find out who owns them.
Thanks,
Alice
Now that I remember – when we played there one afternoon, a man came over and introduced himself. He told us about the court, it wasn't an email after all.

have spoken to the manager of orchard park who runs the courts,,the skate park and court which we use are free to use any time,,the light used to turn off at 9 pm,,but the manager and police have decide to turn them off at 7,30 due to kids leaving lots of rubbish,,the may put lights back to old time table in future,,i asked if we could pay to put lights for extra couple hours,,,as its free space can not be done?

• #6591
not in tonight..
There doesn't seem to be much talk of tournies over November/December, who's up for hosting a tourney at Arbury, limit the teams to 14 or so, similiar to the Canterbury one? We could negotiate some sort of deal with the council for extending the lights for it, show off our scene and maybe convince bureaucrats that they should extend lighting periods for our own practice nights?
It would need a chat about it, maybe we could talk at Max's on Sunday? Just an idea.

Not in tonight, bit late now soz

Looked at chesterton sports centre last night. There are only tennis courts that are lit. Might be a good spot for a tournament but no practice space.

Have we got enough materials to build an entire court? Could always approach the council and find somewhere to build our own?
-
• #6600
It's in cambourne just about 10 miles from cambs
I rang them today, apparently the lights are run by the council and the guys at orchard park having nothing to do with it...gonna try and get in contact with those guys tomorrow...
