update from Brum - we're all set for tomorrow. praying for clement weather and friendly locals.
we'll be getting to the court around 10am, to try to get it cleared of nippers, set up barriers etc.
looks like it's going to be a more informal 'team throw-in' type day, athough people will be free to mix-up/switch teams, so that those of us not used to playing as a team get some practice.
i pm'd crack fox my number - if anyone else needs it, pm me.

cheers for coming today guys, it was so good to play/speak with other people and the little mini tournament worked out really well i thought. congrats to fen boy for winning the worst organised tourney of the year!
look out for photos on our forum and london's forum - we'll look into booking the court and maybe throw an open tournament so everyone has the chance to play on what seems to be one of the most suitable courts around.
looking forward to seeing the fen boys in geneva. roll on the fondue!

Gabe, I see you've been reading the North American rules as well. What do you think of them? One that stands out for me is:
*"Ball-jointing in the offensive zone - Ball jointing is allowed ONLY in the player's defensive zone. Scooping the ball, throwing the ball is permitted."
*
That's a habit I need to get out of before it develops. -
• #2148
I think its crap, we discussed it at the B'ham and instead of ball jointing people are scooping out the face of their mallets in order to dribble it, I think if the ball joint is outlawed in the offensive zone people will just find ways round it... And anyway if ball jointing was banned Josh would be out of a job!

it's interesting to see new rules coming into the fore (the ball joint rule is shit and unenforceable). personally however I think rules are pointless unless you have a decent ref using the rules effectively on court.
i like the suggested rules on contact however. it would be nice to see more penalising of certain types of contact, i.e. T boning (i just think this is boring and slows the game right down). a simple double tap isn't enough. 30+ seconds off court would keep a game flowing nicely.

I didn't think anyone T-bones much anyway
Flowing nicely ?
The arguments, haranguing , pleading , totally insouciant behaviour and outrage after being told to wait for 30 seconds would slow down the play a tad ,non?
The thing about t-boning to me is the intention .
I.e if someone deliberately parks right in front of you when your concentrating or looking elsewhere or just can't stop in time it will be their fault ? However T-boning is deliberately cycling into the side of someone . Without being in possession of a mind scan to ascertain what the intention was ,its fairly hard to judge .
So you will end up with a grass polo style right of way kind of rule which i'm not convinced would work or help much on a small court situation .
my house is at 12 magrath avenue, cb4 3ah. It looks like a witches house!
