I've been in contact with one of those Chinese sports manufacturers. Unless there has been some massive wires crossed, which there very easily could have been, the price they have quoted me is:

The price for Alu 6061 Ø20, 120cm long is USD0.96/pc
The price for Alu 7075 Ø20, 120cm long is USD0.193/pc

I think maybe the 7075 is meant to be $1.93 as surely it cannot be cheaper?
I am getting them to send me some samples, but i don't want them to know i am just some guy sitting in his bedroom so what does this mean "Please kindly let us know the sample quantity you prefer. Besides, do you have a courier account number that we can send the samples to? Or you would prefer the freight collect or prepaid? Please make it more specific. Thank you." I presume i say Freight collect?

ah yes.. engrish. ask for something like ten pieces for testing, and tell him you will prepay for freight. when you give an address use a business name such as "Manchester Bicycle Polo Association"

Yeah, i guess there was a stocking problem -- he could not get all 60 (or whatever the final number was) of them at once. They should be getting him the final batch soon. I'll post here as soon as I hear anything. Sorry about the delay.
