  • Hell.

  • I really like the way that the LONDON forum has more people not from London than any other area.

  • I hope you're being sarcastic Stein!

Maybe all the non Londoners should start a forum call nowherenearlondonfgss.com

  • That's not far from me in sunny ( I wish!) Brockley.

I used to live there as well..

also, strangely, none of us ride fixed gear or single-speed bikes.

  • Enfield. The sooner I get out of here the better.

  • If there are 15 riders from the North. Then why dont you all come up to North Drinks!

I was thinking the same thing dude, guess some people are not up for the hills, otherwise surely they would be there. It's pretty poor though really.

Cause they know you and your gay pink bike will be there ;-)

    Ha! Yeah, there's that too.

  • Well i'm in North and have seen how there is a poor turnout to it so that kinda put me off it,
also the fact that i am 17 (and do drink and get served)

  • It was worth it! Coooookkkeeeeee!

  • St Kilda. I didn't intend to live there as its a bit busy but its so hard to rent a place in Melbourne I took the first place I could. It turned out to be a really nice place to live in the end because of the prossies.

    Fixed!

  • Fixed!

They weren't terribly attractive. You'd also often see them shooting up in the laneways.

  • I know it well mate... St.K was my old stomping ground. Lived in Elwood, but it was obviously right on the doorstep. Its all become a bit gentrified now, but there is still the grimey underbelly and to be honest, Im not impartial to it.

I'll actually be back there in a fortnight for a couple of months of sun. 'Appy days!

Do you know the Greyhound pub? We were regulars at the quiz night which was lots of fun. They changed landlord around the new year and bought in a new quiz which we never went to (out of spite). The old quiz was great. Melbourne Cup day they had a beer raffle which essentially meant that (being as only half of us turned up to the pub) we got to drink all the beer for nothing and not have to put our hands into our pockets at the bar once - all this because we entered the quiz (which was free) whilst all the other ppl in the pub had to pay. Ah, good times. Shame about the beer though, theres only so much free Carlton you can drink.

Fuck man I wish I was back there.

Yeah, great pub... Sunday drag shows! Its a pretty rough and tumble place, isnt it. There were rumours about it being closed down and converted into a gay bath-house which would have been a massive loss to the area. One of the few remaining "real pubs".

Please do not knock Draught on tap... its a pretty significant reason for my trip back. Fosty pots of horse... mmmmm.

Thats the main attraction of north drinks.

  • Stoke Newington represent!

It wasn't going to be closed (we used to get the community newsletter) there used to be a few shops on a patch of land opposite which were knocked down. The pub owners wanted to build a gay only sauna (they got planning permission too). There were protests from the local residents as they said it was too close to a school and would be used for gay sex. The council admitted that they knew it would be (they aren't stupid) but seeing as it was consensual and not paid for (which means it'd fall under brothel laws) they couldn't do anything about it. They overturned the objection. In the end the owners decided not to go ahead with it as they didn't want to piss off the local residents too much. Its prime real estate, they'll probably build flats and make a ton of money.

    Great pub though.
