I've done a few fixed off road rides, but all non-technical woodsy/canal things. It's okay for that, but it would be awful for proper mountain biking.

You dont lock up your back wheel with your brakes squeaker??
I think i would definately be running at least front brakes to start with things can change pretty quickly on the trails. Going too coed brenin whitsun weekend if you wanna try crashing in front of a witness..... -

i've changed my mind about brakeless. one guy on that mtbr forum mentions that even on fixed you can throw your chain pretty easily. that sounds scary on a tree-lined downhill!

This has to be one of the longest gestation period of any bicycle i have ever built, Just checked my PM,s I picked the frame up from 44/17 last march and have been building it for my mate ever since!!
You will see this thing floating round Kings heath and Moseley. I am not entirley responsible for the colour combination!! it looks like it has been stolen of Ronald Mcdonald!!
Has brake cables now!!!
Edit; and chain and correct sized seat post and clamp! -

Fixed gear mtb is really rare, the one you described is even more rare, a typical mtb'er wouldn't even bother trying.
off road fixed gears are usually some sort of commuter, cycle cross bikes and i seen a few like those fixed gear freestyle bikes with knobbly tyres to handle off road or snow
looks great fun though!
