  • bmx bar ends... are they G-Sport? I've needed a pair for two years and still havent got round to buying them

  • just buy a pair of grips often come free.

  • no, they're by a company called Stolen, given to me by a friend when he got some new ones. I don't know if the free ones with grips will it all bars as they have different inside diameters. My bar ends go over the outside end of the bar:

yep, shitty plastic ones come 'free' with grips. decent metal ones like g-sport cost more than grips

Prolite (cheap ones from cyclesport) come with metal ones. Besides the plastic ones easily last the life of the grip, and weigh much less.

One of the reasons I wonder why people fork out so much for Ti bits & thomson seatposts when you can drop so much weight by ditching unecessary baggage.

  • ... most folks'd benefit more from laying off the pies for a few weeks than shelling out for pricey lightweight kit on any type of bike . :)

plastic ones last... what? I take it you've never accidentally dropped your bike or crashed then?

I'm not gonna buy a set of grips that I don't like just so I can have some bar plugs that I'm 99% sure won't fit in my bars.

and do you really think the miniscule additional weight of a set of aluminium bar plugs is going to make any significant difference to a bike's handling, acceleration etc? because if you do I think you've lost the plot...

  • I dont think itll make a difference, but clearly other people do when you can by seatposts that cost more than a decent frame. I wasnt suggesting you buy grips just for the plugs, but if it was time for new ones its a bonus right?

And even stand alone bar ends are diameter specific.

~~, do you like gsport stuff? Do you still rock 16tooth freewheel?

If you do ive got a great wheelset if your interested.~~

    -edit-

    Sabotaged by winstanleys!

Jesus, my wheels have them hubs. They used to sell for like a £100 each and are totally indesctructable.

  • talking of g-sport, look how cheap the homer hubs are now:

    haha

Yep. And the benefit of that is that stand alone bar ends come in various sizes that I can choose from, to fit either the internal diameter or external diameter of the bars that I'm using.

Whereas it looks like the cyclesport ones only come in one size - undoubtely a size to fit the average internal diameter of a bmx bar, which is a fair bit bigger than that of the thick-walled aluminium MTB bars that I'm using.

  • Here's my trusty commuter in the snow this morning:

  • Picking this up next week :)

  • Whole bike or just Frame+fork?

  • .

  • I beg you not to convert it into a fixed. Please, I beg you.

  • You jammy git, that bike is beautiful. So tastefully matched together with high end parts.

Them rims are worth big dorra to the fixie massive by the way.

But seriously dont touch that bike, its a geared dream machine.

  • I'll give you £300 for it just to save it from being Frankenfixied. Or should that be Fixensteined. Whatever man.

  • nah it's definately not going fixed, i'm sure i'll just keep it as is

  • I bought a geared road bike too, needs to change the rear wheel though because its an ancient tub.

You wanna go geared riding fred? See how fast our multiple speed drivetrains take us?

  • nah it's definately not going fixed, i'm sure i'll just keep it as is

sell it me anyway, it's fucking gorgeous!
