  • HA! it's all love..
I like the bright red, as for filling the brake hole? I wouldn't bother unless you are getting fork ends fitted.
There is a dedicated thread from flickwg on 'What should I use to fill the rear brake bridge hole' if you can find it. welcome.

  • I was out in the real world interacting with humans

    More lies...

  • More lies...

Yeah. Like there's a 'real world'. Ha!

  • More lies...

Yeah. Like humans really exist. Ha!

  • Sorry I meant I was busy logged into www.realworld.com. I thought you'd just assume that's what I meant.

  • Famously, we never make assumptions here...

Thanks! Thread if others need it. http://www.londonfgss.com/thread4639.html

There is a filler suitable for powder coating. http://www.alvinproducts.com/. They have a high temp powder coating filler but Armourtex don't use high temps do they?

  • I'm a fakenger apparently...

...but I'm pretty much the only person on this forum WITHOUT a messenger bag!

  • WHo - WHo

  • did your real world friends advise you on what's hot this season?

or were you all too busy trying to make real world people envious of your new brake levers?

  • No they don't understand me like you do.

  • There seems to be a lot of hostility on here recently.

If your (i use this in a broad sense & is not directed at anyone) going to be aggressive please reserve behavior to lurking and search functions. I'm sure virtually every possible SS/Fixed question has already been answered quite a few times.

If the question is on a very specific subject to you by all means post it, but please refrain from getting upset when the hardcore on here feel you maybe be doing it for reasons of style (which there's no denying is popular) and to use a hackneyed phrase, HTFU & just cycle.

This whole 'fakengers vs hipsters' is a bit Quadrophenia and doesn't help anybody.

  • Except that - in the context of this forum - the fakengers and hipsters are one and the same...

  • 'you're'

  • This whole 'fakengers vs hipsters'

I'm not sure which group I fit into.
But am older than the 20 somethings, and closer in age to the 40 somethings. So I reckon I'll start my own group...

    Hipakengers

  • I've got a copy of The Hipster's Handbook (http://www.hipsterhandbook.com/) but I don't have it to hand. I'm sure there is an "official" term in there for post 20s hipsters...

  • 'you're'

    correction noted.

    Flappers - everybody Charleston...

  • "Would somebody in 'the know' (whatever that might mean) please tell me what the latest fashion is because I want to look cool to those that understand. Please tell me, it's doing my head in not knowing whether or not I can pass as authentic, and I need to pass as authentic because I can look down on others safe in the knowledge that I am hip, without looking like I'm trying to be hip, if you know what I mean".

    ...was basically the question.

And of course he got flamed. And understandably so.

It's just the whole mindset of wanting to inspire envy, and assuming others do that too, that baffles me. I hate elitism. Using your possessions as status enhancers will shrink your life, I don't care how fashionable or beautiful they are; if your heart's ugly, any person of integrity will see right through you, even if you tick all the boxes on the surface. You asked for advice on how to be cool, well there it is. I'm 40 years old so I should know by now.

I fully expect another flippant retort for this. And what a disappointment that would be.

  • FUCKING END OF.

  • No need for a flippant retort. As I've said a few times now it was a light hearted friday post to envoke entertaining responses and sponsor some debate. The whole "debate" of fakengers/hipsters and 'real riders' on this forum has been very interesting and sometimes farcical. It's like a live group dynamics study, people aligning to tribes (conciously or not) while denouncing other tribes. Often with self denial of being connected to a group. Forums are wonderful places to see interaction between people who might never interact in normal life except for a common interest that we get to share.

However it has got a tiny bit out of hand so lets put it to bed. I am a pretty well adjusted, personable and young 33 year old with a happy diposition.Self assured but not arrogant. Often to silly for my own good but more than capable of seriousness. I am not having a crisis of character or sat in a pit of desperation for approval- real or cyber.

And don't worry I have a pretty clear vision for my bike but I will definitely look to you guys for technical advice. I am at peace that it will not be liked by all people and may not even be liked by most people. But hopefully some of you realised that already.

  • In fact it's probably garuanteed that more people won't like it as I chose a set of 80's BMX brake levers. Just like I used to race with back then. I cleaned a lot of cars to be able to afford them back then and I couldn't believe that I found a pair of New Old Stock levers in the same style packaging I had drooled over all those years ago.

I think i'll smile everytime I look at them.

  • 'invoke'

  • FUCKING END OF.

You do know that it has Conti tyres?
    ;)

  • Cool.

Though I know fuck all about bikes :)
