I'm with hippy (it pains me to say it).
Very happy Vredestein Fortezza/Tricomp user, but the Rubino Pros are doing as good a job (maybe don't roll quite as fast) for a more agreeable cost.

Thanks for that. Rubino are far easier to track down, I've had some on order. Still thought I'd see if any one is as crazy as I am about shit cheap tyres.
Oh, but be aware that Rubino's (like Zaffiro's) are shit in the wet..
edit: Oh, someone already pointed that out :)
For grip in the wet I like TriComp's..

A pair of Zaffiros are sitting here. They look brand new but I have used them a bit I think (one is on my turbo trainer wheel at the moment).
Give me something cool for them.
Excellent
Cool beer? Cold cash? Where are you Ant, I can pass by on the weekend if you around.

You'll be lucky to get 6 weeks, I think they're only about 62tpi
6 months is what I got out of my first one (although to be honest it's been dodgey for the last two months)

Cash is not something I crave. Beer is OK but I'd prefer just a cool object. anything you like. My real reward is the karma.
I'm in Orpington so probably not close enough for you to pass by. I'm not working at the moment due to the new baby being borned yesterday.
Let me have a think, I'm not sober enough at the moment.

Congrats on the baby. wow! far more exciting than a bloody tire. I do have a chinese silk baby outfit which I forgot to give to my friends when they had their kid. But when you have a baby, I'm told you end up drowing in baby clothes.
Orpington is about 15 miles more than I had in mind to be honest so maybe not passing by as you say.

If you can hang on a bit I'll be in town at some point. They are yours whatever so don't worry about that.

Nice one, cheers!

Avoid these tyres, they are lethal in the wet.
They are cheap for a reason. -
• #36
You say that but in my own experience the grip in the wet is far better than conti gator skins or speciaised armidillos. They are cheap because they use a simple production process and the compound is not long lasting, I guess. But grip they do.

• #37
No they don't..

Lies Lies..!
Gatorskins are grip tastic.
Cheap zaffiro's & Rubino's are only good for skidding, and unpredictable at that.

I think there are a lot of people on here who pump up their tyres too much, both for general and (especially) wet weather riding... as well as being shit at bike handling.
That is aimed at no-one in particular.

200psi FTW

• #41
Sounds a bit squidgy to me.
-
• #42
Yeah, he needs to Pump it The Fuck Up...
-
• #43
200psi is fine for off-road with rigid forks. Any other situation, and it's snakebite territory.
-
• #44
I'm running tubs no snake bites here. Nothing but a plush ride. My compressor only goes up to 200 so that's what I'm stuck with.

Ahh, I see BMMF beat me too it.
This is aimed squarely at any fooker dissing Rubino Pros.. especially the red ones..

I hope I am not tempting fate here (touches wood, crosses fingers etc) but I have been running my all white Zaffiro 23tpi that I picked up in Tokyo and have not had any issues at all, in the wet or dry, skidding or not. The bike feels good in all conditions and usually run around 100psi. When running Specialized All Condition Pro on my ss I got loads of flats! My route is from Bethnal Green to Covent Garden, so only 4 miles, but the road conditions are pretty mixed with plenty of glass thrown in.

Guilty
I burst the inner tube on one of our prams wheels, trying to save time by using my track pump. The missus was not very happy :( -
