Warmth wise I'm fine with a pair of merino glove liners for most of the winter. But there not hugely durable ( I wore a hole between the thumb and forefinger of my last year ones) and merino isnt not wind or waterproof.
So I need a thin wind/waterproof outer glove. I'm thinking some sort of spring/autumn glove should do the trick. Something with a clarino palm should be durable enough to stop me wearing holes between fingers with a wind/waterproof back. Any suggestions

Prendas ones look good. I'm thinking about get some of the fleecy Roubaix ones - but they also have more wind/waterproof ones

You're all Dromarti'd up :-)
Mine arrived yesterday, they're absolutely lovely, I'm not really intending them for use on the bike as a rule as I'm been looking for some nice gloves for a while

i got a castelli winter glove (neoprene) for £35 from Sigma sport, its a brilliant glove for winter apart from the fact that it fucking stinks and leaves stink on my hand after usage! Anyone here knows a solution?

My DeFeet wooly gloves (£15 from LMNH one day when it was cold) are awesome- but not at all waterproof, and grip is present but not great.

I use these bad boys:
Not water proof, but are great at keeping my hands at a comfortable lever, and the grip is optimal, most important thing for me as I use them for BMX too. Nice plus, they rip at the fingertops first after a year or so, so I can mess around on my iPhone while riding.
I still go with full leather carbon knuckled moto gloves for sub 5 degree weather. Great grip and insulation, yet good with dealing with moisture.

[ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/North-Face-Pamir-Windstopper-Gloves/dp/B000VN44XU"]The North Face Pamir Windstopper Gloves: Amazon.co.uk: Clothing[/ame]
I have had several pairs of cycling-specific winter gloves and all have been shit in one way or another. Pearl Izumi were zipped on one side and the zip gave up after a few months; Endura Dexter "windproof" gloves - ha, I could feel the wind coming through the stitching before it even got properly cold. This year I've gone for these North Face ones which I got for £20 in a sale a couple of months back. Just perfect: just enough grip where you need it, completely windproof and don't look like daft cycling gloves.

Same here. Bought them last year, work like a charm. No goretex but it is water repellent to a certain level.

I just slap some market fleece gloves under track mits, works a treat and costs pennys

Leave in the freezer overnight. Inside out if possible.

Last year I found some cheap gloves on eBay for about £7. i think they were called Grip Grab. They accidentally sent me some overshoes also.
Both of these were amazing. Really warm and exceptionally waterproof. At the end of the season the thumb had worn down a bit, and I was leaving for Oz, I got rid of both of them.
Can't find them now and I'd really like to buy the gloves again. Anyone heard of them? -

These today:
Finger tips still chilly though, what can people recommend that are warmer than these without restricting movement?

Although these are looking good. I wish they'd give a temperature rating. Saw some that looked bulky and perfect, but then it said suitable for 10c. Meh.

Castelli neoprene ones

Uniqlo ski gloves worked well a couple of winters back
My Corrine Dennis ones are disapointing, primarily as they are not wind proof.
Knitted wool , and it must be wool or a wool mix , work well with glove liners. I used to use army ones from Silvermans. However, you only seem to get crap acylic gloved these days . Barbour, still do knitted wool gloves

Castelli neoprene ones
They look pretty good, silk liners not fit underneath?
