  • Pearl Izumi make nice winter gloves that dont fall apart.. though its a little early for glove change no?

  • I'd go for either these at £20:

Or these, which look pretty sick, but are damn pricey at £50:

  • tchibo do a nice fleece windproof glove for about £8 works for me

you just have to be lucky when you go in the shops as they change their stock as often as on one langster changes his user name

  • Its funny how you tell him to UTFS, give a link to an IDENTICAL thread. And people start posting in this one.

  • In the description for those camo ones it says they are designed to keep your hands cool, winter glove fail.

  • Hmm. Well I've only ever worn fingerless, so any full-finger glove which isn't paper thin, or so bulky I can't use anything whilst wearing them, sounds good to me. I reckon they look pretty good.

I would definitely go for the POC ones though, if I had the cash. They just look durable as hell, and got a good write-up in Dirt mag a few months back.

  • Now got the wireless computer sorted.....Cateye Strada double wireless.with cadence...now turning my attention to winter......My hands get very cold even in October they are painful when there is a slight chill...first frost...agony!......so recommendations please.....something for Artic conditions yet still be able to change gear and brake easily....cheers....again!

  • Ha! I was thinking of starting a similar thread last night!!!
Was just doing my research first tho.... if you know what i mean ;)

There are a few older threads and most of the gloves on these are now no longer available.

  • If you get really cold hands go with a lobster claw glove or full mitten.

  • I agree with Tommy, I've a pair of Pearl Izumi lobster gloves that I bought when I lived in Zurich. They are good down to at least -10 and I can't wear them unless it's hovering around the zero degree mark as my hands get too hot.

If you don't want the lobster type gloves then I've had a pair of SealSkinz gloves for the past 3 winters that are excellent. I was reluctant at first given my bad experience with their waterproof socks (that fill up with water when cycling) but a friend who runs a bike shop was so insistent that they were very warm that I bought some. He was right.

I will look into the PI Lobster gloves.....I have a pair of the SealSkinz gloves and that is what i wore this morning......hands still very cold......so i know its me....my feet do not have the same problems.....just my hands.....so when it gets really cold....cycling is very painful as i lose all feeling in my hands...Many years ago went fishing....put a hook into my finger.....could not feel it...no blood either and this was a barbed hook deeply embedded into my thumb...New Year's Eve...bleedin' freezin!

  • There's a big thread on gloves already somewhere. Check that for recoomendations. I like the look of the POC Index Flow one's myself.

Wear Merino liner gloves under Sealskinz ... Sealskinz on their own are not that insulating

  • lobster mitts are nice and all, but you can't shift gears with them.

specialized radiators are what i'll be using. they passed the sink test* and they feel very warm and roomy. slim around the wrist.

*submerge gloved hand in sink full of water. clench fist, relax, clench fist... repeat for 1 minute. dry. win.

  • whats the sink test?

  • jersey just told you.

  • Next question - what's the point of the sink test?

  • have a look in heingericke at autumn gloves there usually thin n i can wear mine even when its bloody cold and only about 25 quid n can last up to bike crashes so should last really well on pushirons

  • well, I understood the process...but what does it shows? water resistance?

How your gloves will cope should you ever do a hippy and end up in a canal?

from what I understand if your hand is still dry after 1 minutes, it's a win.

seemed pretty extreme but it'd be nice to know that it'll able to stand up well when enduring heavy rain for hours.

    That's a summer sport.
