I have dainty hands - I reckon large will be to, um, large.
Unless they come up small ? Anyone know ?

I think they fit true to size. Defeet have sizing on their website.

I'm between a medium and large and medium was sweet, fingers are a little tight but right length.

I found the fit a bit weird, I'm L in all my other gloves and the fingers on the defeet ones are really long (good tightness though). They are a bit baggy at the back of the hand too.

Yeah, they're not shaped amazingly well but seem fine in use.

Popped into Snow'N'rock at lunch, the Arc'teryx Beta AR seems to be a nice glove, but pricey.

Got these during the week, and wore them for the first time today (with merino liners) in 1°c commute. First time in ages my hands have actually been warm and comfortable (they're colder now, sitting in my office).

Only complaint is that the thumb is shorter than the fingers, if that makes sense, so the end of my thumb was a little cold as it was pressed against the end of the glove. Otherwise really toasty. Worth a look if you're a Raynaud's enthusiast.

^ bought a pair of these in TK Max last year for around £10. Great gloves - I often wear them with DeFeet Dura's underneath and take the lobsters off after the first 1-2 hours of a ride once I've warmed up. Not great in the rain, but perfect for this dry cold.

Do they tend to soak up water in the rain, then? Thought they might be a bit prone to that.
Got any recommendations for similarly warm gloves for wet weather?

I use neoprene in really wet weather.

The lobsters are OK for the first hour in the rain, then they get wet, and heavy. Good thing is that they are thick enough to keep you warm for another hour, even when they are wet through.

What I was getting at is that they don't really shed water, just soak it up slowly.

I bought a pair of Prendas Air Tunnel Winter Gloves a few months back, now they are seeing active service.

So far i've not had problem with the cold and I tend to ride home about 3.00am at night. I do realise that the colder weather is due to come however...

But then I do have my 1980's cycling oven mitts for the sub-sub zero stuff.

This. Its hard to describe the level of discomfort that poor circulation can bring regardless of whether you enjoyed a crafty fag at the bike sheds.

Been using bar mitts for the coldness given the Reynauds.

Those Gore Tex faux fur mitts look a worthy, affordable addition to the freezing digits wardrobe.

Gotcha. Sound a bit like the Sealskins I have, apart from the warmth. So I can probably live with them being a bit spongy till I get some neoprene.

I did 3.5 hrs in the Wool Defeets today in 3-6° and they were great.

No chilly digits, and (unlike most winter gloves I've tried) no sweaty hands either. I'm pretty impressed for such a thin and simple glove.

Do believe the hype... forum high-five.
